Ive suddenly realised I desperately need to start a thread up on here for the mustang. I bought this mustang from incarsolutions about 6 weeks ago and have been working on it near enough constantly since.

Thought I should start a new one as Ive got a few plans which will probably change the direction of the build a bit!
This is the day after picking it up and the delightful drive through dartford tunnel with a whole ton of noise
Unfortunately it decided to have a catastrophic wiring failure the day after this picture resulting in rebuilding the engine loom, new coil, new ignition module and new HT leads. All was then fine until the carb issue that incarsolutions had found decided to show its face again. This time though it would not fix itself after a while and resulted in a rather interesting tow home! Carb has been rebuilt with a full kit and a few damaged internals replaced, hoping to get her up to my uncles american car shop in southend this weekend for a tune up.
While she's been undriveable due to bits off or waiting for new parts ive been cracking on with the interior.
I wasn't too happy with the black. For one, when it got hot it stuck to my arms... so started down the road of removal back to stock...

Not done anything to the outside yet, still looking pretty good due to the work done previously outlined in the other thread
A lot to the interior now though. Way way back the whole interior was retrimmed in a grey vinyl (very 90s) which was starting to fall apart and is not really my cup of tea. Removing it has shown this amazing red interior, but it needs a lot of cleaning and in some places will need complete respray or rebuilding
Ive been working on new speaker grilles - found these nice retro 4x6 ones but they need extending a bit so I made a card template and I'll route a bezel extension out of stock 6mm plastic. This should finish the door cards off for now.
And here are some close ups of the wood. When I ripped the vinyl retrim off it pulled some of the lacquer and in places some of the veneer as well. So it has been lightly varnished with pine wood stain just to bring the lighter areas under the original varnish up to the same level. I didn't want to sand the whole lot down and lose that original grey pinstripe, so they will stay like this for now, giving it that feel of age and originality at the same time.
You can also see here how bad the glove compartment lid is. Tried getting the black spray off but its pulling the red off as well. Needs a respray once I've found a colour match.
Some bits have come out real well though! Chrome polish has really cleaned this up
Got this shot with the sunroof panel out to clear the fumes from all the cleaning products! It was quite sunny last weekend...
And finally the contrast between the wood, red and the black exterior.
Hopefully with the instrument panel / dashboard and the glove lid all sprayed the right colour and new seat covers (have been shown a US catalogue with EVERYTHING in it ) it will be back to near original condition on the interior. It won't stay that way though... I have big plans for certain parts of it.
Hope this updates the history of this car a bit more! Will try and keep this updated.
