It dawned on me recently just how few of these you see on the roads any more. They are now in prime retro-age territory (they came out in 83, just three years after the Metro!) and are, to my eyes, sharp looking and neatly proportioned little machines. Amazingly successful rally cars too - a greater motorsport heritage than most superminis... Simple mechanicals, LOADS of tuning bits available, 2.0 XE swaps-a-plenty... And, of course, those supercool blistered arches on the Hatches ;D There is a Nova that I am deliberately missing out from these pics, someone else can post it (it's a well known RR car ;D )

My first car, and the one I learnt to drive in. I had years of people taking the curse word, and I often say I wish I still had it After 4 years of owning it (got it with 46k on the clock)

I think they are fab. I especially love the 2 door saloons with dishy rims. I wanted one as a first car, but then my brother rolled his and I was told I had to get something 'safer' LOL I then persuaded them a carlton was the way to go. I then rang the insurance company Surprised there arent more on RR TBH. As you say, prime age, and getting rare now.

I recently sold mine, it was a 1.2I merit with 74K on the clock, on a J plate. I loved the bloody thing and best of all it still smelt like a new car in side.

I think they are still tarred with the barryboy (I hate that term) brush, despite the fact that they were fashionable amongst that crowd about ten years ago, it's all Saxos and cheap-finance new stuff these days ;D The time is right for their image to change for the better IMO

In my opinion (and to quote Tony the Tiger) : They'rrrre Grrrrrrrrrrrreat!! I must have been ahead of my time when I had mine as I fitted a Cavalier SRi 130 lump up front and commander steels for a stealth approach and a bit more rubber - looked totally bog stock - went like heck Sold it to some muppet who smashed it up in just a few days tend not to sell cars now ;D ^^^^^^ Go team! That sounds like it would've been the wasp's nipples! A guy in my town used to have a savage looking cherry red one with a fully chromed engine bay and feckin big allessio's before people were doing the big rim thing. It was so cool that it never ever ever looked like a gouger's car it was just too cool for school. He sold it and bought a peugeot 106 ralleye ....what gives there? On the other hand, my dad used to have an NHS-white 'long 12' (saloon 1200) and it was sh1te!!It was a small runaround until some little plank stole it and unfortunately wasn't killed in it

Theres a fairly mint looking one for sale local to me for £450 ONO at a dealer. Looks like a trade in from some old dear. Its a series 1 3 door.
I pass it every day, can find out more if anyone is interested. Was tempted myself but am under instruction not to buy any more cars.
