Haha, I like that test Here is a video from IrishRotary.com's First National Rotary Meet we held on 7/7/13(b) I had the car on the road less than a week at this stage. Forgive my faux pas for referring to an S1 as an FB rather than an SA, he caught me on the hop and just threw a camera in my face

Cool little video that. Great to see Eddie Doyle still driving his Spirit R, got a lot of admiration for the man. Does he still have his Cosmo, I wonder? Your comment about fixing a few bits reminded me, did I have to search out a side repeater for you? If so, please feel free to tell me what a **** I am. Completely slipped my mind (again)

I'm not sure if he still has the JC, but I've been told he has a '67! I didn't get talking to him at all that day unfortunately. Nope, I got one Thanks though!

Not a great pic, but I picked this up last weekend. Torsen LSD from a Eunos Roadster 1.8, 4.1 ratio afaik. I was after a clutch LSD but this will do. 26 spline and apparently just bolts right up, fingers crossed the interweb is right on that! Also, en route... 6-port 13b And a clue to what direction I'll be going with it...

An FC EGi engine then? And Webers Noice. Glen can stop hassling you over 13B righteousness then, lol Have to say, I'm more interested in how the MX-5 diff fits and works; been tempted myself but it'll be good to learn firsthand from someone else's story

Yep Should be an interesting Winter Yeah, I'm always dubious when the internet tells me something is just plug and play or just bolts right in there. It's never that simple, is it?!

The diff is in and it makes such a difference. I've only got to use it once in anger really, but it's awesome. The gearing makes it much easier for throwing the out, but you really have to stay on it if you want to want to go round, to be expected with a torsen! Huge difference over the standard open diff anyway! 13b arrived in the meantime, sitting pretty in my shed. Oilpan and Weber 45 arrived too, and inlet mani on the way. Also picked up some new wheels over the past couple of weeks. Full set of Magroads, similar to Watanabes, but they're skinny as at 14x6 +20, but the only confirmed production date for these is '75, so that's pretty cool In desperate need of a refurb. Picked up another pair of SSR Formula Mesh, too. 14x7 and dishy enough. I'll get them refurbed and see how the full set looks on the FB! Hopefully all my plans come together next year

Sweet oldschool wheels!! I quite like the faded look they have, especially since they're actually old

Cheers, almost gave them back to the guy I bought them off because he had said they were 7j, but I reckon I'll pick up a little old Datsun that they'll suit nicely at some stage, so might as well hold onto them

Picked these up at the weekend Plan is to stick these on the front with the Longchamps on the back, looking forward to seeing how that works out. Got news from RotaryShack that the inlet mani was shipped last week, so can hopefully get stuck into the 13b shortly. This is the mani Trying to put a plan together of what to do before putting the engine in. Reckon gilmer pulley, big rad and oil cooler should be on the cards, anything else I should consider?

Electric fan conversion, if you haven't already got one? Shiny manifold is shiny

I am kind of in two minds about the e-fan conversion, I try not to go near wires unless its absolutely necessary :-p The benefits make it worth the effort? And shiny manifold arrived today

Yeah, I haven't had any issues with mine since it was fitted. Had a faulty control box which was replaced and since then it's been fit and forget. If you go for a Kenlowe setup it's pretty much all wired up already for you and the sensor clips through the matrix so you don't have to even cut hoses or anything. The viscous fan is a massive drag on the engine and an endless source of broken fan belts, plus it's one less thing to clearance and line up when swapping the lump

Is the Kenlowe kit you used a universal one? Couldn't find an FB specific one after a quick google. I wouldn't have thought it was a big drag on the engine, seeing as it only engages when the car is idle or at low speeds? I'm not worried about snapping belts since I'll have the gilmer pulley kit I wouldn't mind some extra space in the bay though!

I think the ring from a kia sportage front diff fits in the mx5 diff makes it go like a stabbed rat

Yeah, off the shelf, dude. You can get kits from anywhere pretty much, Tweeks or wherever Or make up your own setup from components a bit cheaper. If you think the fan doesn't hold back the engine, try turning one by hand It's one of those mods I can't understand why I didn't do it sooner, tbh. Plus frees up loads of room losing the fan shroud and viscous coupling etc. Plus the entire fan relies on basically a bimetallic strip and a spring pin, which will break sooner or later so there's a reliability boost too.
