Polo has an 80s casette player, into which I plug a 3.5mm to tape converter so I can play my MP3 player When I get around to fitting one of the late '60s / '70s spindle mount tape decks that I bought from Akku, I'll be doing the same ;D

My C110 came with seperate Hitachi AM radio and Cassette Player, I still have them, and they both still work, but I've swapped consoles for other reasons and am not likely to put a stereo into the 110 at all. Much prefer the sound of the motor, it's only the long trips that I miss it and I don't do a massive amount of those.

It should however be noted that I have kept my Sony MP3 head unit, its hidden away and the 8-track I rewired with phono outputs so it now runs into the auxillary on the Sony which amplifies and outputs to a couple of 6x9s and some 5" Kenwoods in the front

I got myself a legendary 8-track with slider volume and tone controls off ebay and i'm gonna mount this in and a hidden CD player in the Magnum.....got some 6"x9" and 5" JBL speakers from Halfords on the fly and will be slipping a sub and amp in the boot when i get round to it all. I figure old looks but with hidden up to date sounds.....was thinking of just putting the face of this over the CD player to disguise it? Never bothered with a stereo in the GT6 cos, in fairness, i don't think you'd be able to hear it with the engine/exhaust deafening going on ;D

I turned this: into a rolling PA system. You couldn;t see any of it though But I was amazed you could hear it some distance away. Used to wake my Mrs up coming home from the pub late at night and I said "wasn't me" and she said "so the local chavs have started listening to Front Line Assembly have they?" Oh well. It made me chuckle and amazingly the duynamo kept up with it all and if not y9ou can always start it on the handle... The Rover had an awesome stereo in it as well. Again all hidden. But there was not a lot of boot space left LOL. It was all Directed gear, good stuff from their old Studio range. had 1" soft dome tweeters under the dash, 4" mid drivers in the foot wells and 8" mid-bass units which were slimline units under the front seats. Then in the back there was a 12" sub and the amps to drive it all. I had Directed at first and then Hifonics proper kit, from before they were boughtout by Maxxonics . I had the fronts on active crossovers except the tweets were passive. It was one of those things where you suddenyl end up chasing every creak and rattle ound the car and then mess about with it trying to "broaden the sound stage" or "raise the image height" or whatever until you think, "fvck me, its only a car radio"....

I have a mint one of these, with nicer knobs, in the ghia. No speakers though. Its mono, and came with its own amp. It cost me more than a modern radio too, but its got a 5 pin din input so i can use my ipod and it suits the car. Just need some speakers.

So i love music, (understand the 80's pop gap, but i'm the right age to llike the novelty and cheesyness of the 80's plus there were some good stuff IMO), and i'm an audio visual dude, but why stick with standardish stuff guess i don't want to put effort and money into something that makes the car a target again. i will make some improvements, maybe fit my CD player again for a bit, and sling the mondeo set up in the 3 door, its nice and clean looking. God i miss my CD's pumping out cool tunes, something must be done!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts
