OK, here's the score.
The engine in Katie's Herald expired about 10 days ago. Its still parked outside my mum's place where it went bang and I haven't investigated fully other than when I took the plug out of No 2 cylinder just after it happened I was greeted with a plume of blue smoke and a very damp oily plug. We'll tow it home on Wednesday all being well.
Fortunatly we bought a spares car a few weeks ago which I've stripped and we got because of its re-built 1500 engine and O/D box. Having done a bit of running around (rebuilding prop, buying the odd gasket etc.) the plan is to swap the drivetrain over this coming Sunday (11th). Anyone fancy lending me a hand?
I thought I'd ask generally as there might be guys who've never worked on something like this or done an engine swap before and it might be a good learning experience? Sustenance will be provided throughout the day and we could even accomodate people the night before if anyone fancies coming from further away(might be basic accomodation though ).
Some pics...
I've degreased and splashed some paint on the engine. Inlet/carb and possibly dizzy will be swapped for the known good ones on the blown engine. Oh, and the nice old alloy rocker cover I've got.
Overdrive gearbox. Six speeds here we come! Oh and with the long diff we've got a theoretical top speed of 128mph
Rich came and got the front suspension yesterday, note hacksaw removing it carefully.
I thin I borke it! It's now stacked in slightly neater piles.
