Cool. I notice they've all got U.S. plates. I've not seen a scruffy 510 in years. I guess out here in the mid-rust.. er, mid-west... Brian

I really like 510's, they're such a plain looking car, bit like a Mk2 Cortina or Rootes Arrow.

Have you got the fully tuned skyline engine in it yet? I have a video somewhere of me destroying some R1 cars (or maybe it was R3..) on a oval track, keeping the car sideways all 10 laps. On topic:

I reckon the 510 has to be one of the nicest looking 2dr and 4dr saloons ever made - then there's the pickup. Don't even get me started on the wagon! The first one, on the slots, that EmmmDeee posted has to be my fave one. I wonder if Eddie will notice if his goes missing??

I'm not all that keen on them looking tatty but I do agree that the first one looks best. Hmmm... if I replicated that look it'd sure save me a lot of work.
To think... I sold a 510 for less than £300 a few years ago. Madness.

Soooo much love for the top one on slots (its a massive inspiration) and 510's in general. Might have to replicate the look with a cortina saloon one day...

This is my 72 that I imported from Sacramento California last year. I just put my Cosworth engine in it and hope to have it running this summer (if we have one)

Wow, that's thinking out of the box!
I mean many of the ford boys are all junking their YB engines due to cost of rebuilding them, reliability issues etc and replacing them with Japanese 4 cylinder engines instead ...and you are doing exactly the opposite by dropping a ford engine in a classic Japanese car. Definitely different ....

Definitely different .... Er, thank you. The Cosworth choice was made simple as; I had one (from my previous car) and it fitted. Fitting a Nissan SR20det (which seems to be the turbo swap of choice) in one of these requires changing to a top mount turbo to clear the steering box and consequently with it being LHD, you end up with a very hot turbo siitting right next to the master cylinder. The Cosworth has the turbo on the other side and is physically smaller than the original Nissan lump (and I'm guessing the SR20 too). Ideally, I would have dry-sumped it, but I don't have the budget for that right now. A friend is fab'ing a modified sump for me in the mean time (Cosworth has alloy sump needs a Tig welder which I don't have), and we'll see how that works out in the meantime. Looks wise, ultimately I would like to put it back to the original bamboo beige colour, but fortunately I also like the 'distressed' look until then

And yes those issues exist and can be overcome but as you say, if you had a YB sitting idle then defo the way to go. Keep us posted ..
