I've stuck the Octie in "for Sale" with loads of pictures. I need to flog it now, mortgage has to be paid, and thanks to redundancy in September, a guy who gave me a contract to sign at the start of November for a job offer, but then kept putting back the start date, then with my mum dying at the end of November and the Xmas/New year job desert, I haven't been working since September.
I need cash and I don't need it tied up in a nice car that I'm not driving. The jobs are starting to come in now, but most of them are closer to home, so banger/walking/push bike would do.
Anyone need something safe, solid, modern and with enough space and toys to do the job? I will consider offers.

Yeah, I hope it will. The moron who gave me a job but then didn't start me released me from the contract after I gave him some earache about needing a start date or I was looking else where.
Then after accepting that (I had already been looking because he was a tosser) I wasn't going to work for him, he phones me and tells me his other web developer is leaving to go back south and he needs me if I'll still work for him.
I've said yes, but if something else comes off, I'm takign that, even for a lot less money, because I wouldn't be driving to Blackburn everyday.
We were so close, to putting the house in the market and renting for a while until I was working again. We would have made a nice buffer, that would have covered a better house deposit too.
If it wasn't for now (maybe) starting for him, I would have kept off the cars altogether until I got a job.
He wants me to go in on Friday to shadow the current developer who I was supposed to join, but looks like I'm now replacing.
But I have an interview on Monday for a local School who want a web developer, and potential for another interview tomorrow (waiting to hear back), that will be decided on Monday.
The local one pays less, but is term time only so could temp or contract over the summer and is very local. The is in manchester, but pays similar to the blackburn job, and looks to be a solid non internet firm, but does it's own developing in house.
I really hope I get one of those. I don't fancy chugging upto Blackburn everyday.

Oh I know, that is why it would be my preference if I get it. I wouldn't need a ultra reliable, just a fun car, I could walk/cycle when needed and get some excercise, and use the car on grotty days.
And if I take off a couple of grands worth of fuel costs, it will be better than all that commuting anyway.
I've been applying for all those local authority and county council jobs that I reckon I could do, and it is tricky to get in. Must have applied for 10-15 and this is the 1st one I've gotten an interview for.

Yes it is hard getting a foot in the door nowadays ,but when I started it was still difficult as well ! I took into consideration trav/fuel /the need not to have the car start everyday etc ,and altho' I earn much less ,I spend much less on outgoings . There is also the fact that you more or less know what your role is and your employer knows in the back of their mind that the union ,to a point ,could lean on them if they push you too hard with job descriptions ..again ..just My 2p!

I'll get something sorted. and while crapping on the other guy for messing me about for so long could be done, it isn't me. I know he was stupif hiring me before the work was there, but he couldn't actually start me until it was.

No worries mate. Round here, urine extraction is the second most popular pre-occupation, after being tat off ebay when drunk (or really sober, but denying it in the morning).
