If you drive a car, please read - Sarah Kennedy was talking about this proposed car tax scheme on Radio 2. Apparently there is only one month left to register your objection to the 'Pay As You Go' road tax. The petition is on the 10 Downing St website but they didn't tell anybody about it. Therefore at the time of Sarah's comments only 250,000 people had signed it and 750,000 signatures are required for the goverment to at least take any notice. Once you've given your details (you don't have to give your full address, just house number and postcode will do), they will send you an email with a link in it. Once you click on that link, you'll have signed the petition. The government's proposal to introduce road pricing will mean you having to purchase a tracking device for your car and paying a monthly bill to use it. The tracking device will cost about £200 and in a recent study by the BBC, the lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural florist and £194 for a delivery driver. A non working mother who used the car to take the kids to school paid £86 in one month. On top of this massive increase in tax, you will be tracked. Somebody will know where you are at all times. They will also know how fast you have been going, so even if you accidentally creep over a speed limit in time you can probably expect a Notice of Intended Prosecution with your monthly bill. If you are concerned about this Orwellian plan and want to stop the constant bashing of the car driver, please sign the petition on No 10's new website (link below) and pass this on to as many people as possible. Sign up if you value your freedom and democratic rights - petitions.pm.gov.uk/traveltax

You would have to be seriously retarded to even consider paying it so it wont work.

Yes i'll be there, bring on the road blocks! What a bunch of Thick C0cks! they have time to rid this crappy idea before it gets embarassing for them when our country is ridiculed for either strangling blocks and riots, or just a cripled and funked up economy and prospects. See ya at the blocks even if i'm on foot....

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

You would have to be seriously retarded to even consider paying it so it wont work. They have ways of enforcing these things like everything else. Look at council tax rises, road tax VAT Income tax, road laws, speed cameras, all of it, however this is a little bit big bang. they should of learnt at fuel blockades, they didnt they just had a bit of a break... Unity.

I don't care, id happly have a criminal record to help prevent it.
The point is if everone says NO then it dosent happen. They cant throw us all in jail! hell they probably couldent even throw 0.009% of us in jail as theres no curse word space!

ill certainly say no this is stupid.
by the time youve paid fuel costs and parking and driven to work and back, the amount you got paid for the day will be £40 and the amount you pay in driving there will be £50.
I'm not paying £10 to goto work!
about time we all sent our logbooks to the DVLA saying SCRAPPED and carry on driving - just not paying for mot's, speed tickets, tax discs, insurance, etc and risk the £200 fine.

well i wonder if our classics will still be tax exempt? i doubt it tbh.
i wont put a box in my cars, and i wont pay the bills, i wont pay the fines and i WILL drive on the roads
Maybe they're doing this to make up for the lost revenue from the impending smoking ban!!

Boy, I wish I lived in Soviet Russia, so much personal freedom.
Ive got a sneaking suspiscion that this road pricing lark wont go ahead. The govenrnment will get to the 11th hour with "implementing" it then have a sudden change of heart and bring in some other cash generating scam instead that isnt as harsh like double road tax or fuel tax or similar. The general public will be so relieved on not being taxed to death by road pricing that we'l welcome the new laws thinking weve had a lucky escape. Its all about manipulation and CONTROL.......
Where the friggin hell is all this money they're stealing off us going to anyway?
