Hi there, Thought I would finally add this, as I haven't posted anywhere in a while, and as I've had it a year I might as well start writing about it  Bought it November 2011 after my old one went bang, and I couldn't find a replacement gearbox. Unfortunately having trouble finding pictures of it standard  After running it last year like this  I have decided this year that I will do everything that needed doing last year haha So first port of call, get it running properly, sort out the wobbly head gasket, and in the process try on some new wheels,    There 8x16 jaguar dimple alloys off an xj6 sport, offset of +33, but with 20mm adapters this comes down to 13 - hence the poke, next stop is some friendly attack from the arch roller, and mr mcstretchy tyres haha, I have a feeling 205/40s aren't going to be arch friendly, that or the arches won't be sidewall friendly! Heads currently off for pressure testing and skimming, nice shiny new gasket and should hopefully all be rosy  Plans for the year, Respray to get rid of the scratches and horrible swirl marks caused by years off terrible washing, Trying to find either a trimmer to redo the front seats (this is including the search for the sportline chequered cloth) or a secondhand passenger seat from Germany! Maybe slightly lower (airide??) Some subtle smoothing Preparation for European road trip in may if all goes to plan :/ haha Anyways, that's my pride and joy hope you enjoy!! Alastair |

The jaguar alloys fit the car perfectly and are very different. They could do with a polish though, for that vip look ;D If you're up for a bit of diy you could take out that protruding thing around the centre hole with a angle grinder using yout car as a lathe, which would give them a nice flat face. You'll also want smaller tyres than 205/55 though, what about 185/50 or even lower profile for some serious slammage? Might even have to go down to 175 or 165 to clear the front arches and get some serious stretch going  Merc transmissions fit quite well between the different models and engines, virtually any transmission from a 4,5 or 6 cylinder 124 or 201 should fit, and a few from some 202 and 210's. |

Thank you, they will be getting tidied up withing the next couple of weeks, haven't really had a spare moment recently, although il probably just repainting them Silver with the grey inserts, as there a pretty close match to the colour of the car, and break the wheel up a bit more!and whilst that would look good, I have put enough money into them already haha, what with the adapters and bolts setting me back £250+
I'm still undecided on tire size haha as the sump guard is already about an inch off the floor, but as its not a daily anymore, I feel I can make it stupidly low haha,
Although it does scrape the whole way down the road to the workshop!!
The gearbox in this one is fine, it was my old one that went bang, after the trans cooler pipe snapped, didn't realise and needed to get home hahaha scrapped that one after flogging the diesel lump in it!
I don't want to much stretch as its quite fond of eating tyres as it is lol

Update time, The head is back from being skimmed, acid dipped, welded having snapped manifold bolts removed and getting water lines repaired, not quite the "hopefully will just need skimming" but its nearly back on the road!!! |

I was never a huge fan of the 190E, but some lows and some wheels do change my perception of that somewhat! Sounds like quite a fun project anyway . |

Looks really good. I didn't think the Jag wheels would work, but I was wrong.
How did you lower it? Apparently people in the states are using E36 3 series Coilovers ontthe front of these.

If you're going to run coilovers you'll need very low et wheels, the stock dampers even have bulges in them to allow the tyres to clear them. You could just use them as shorter and stiffer dampers though, as the stock ones bottom out quite early. You'll also have to fabricate new top mounts or weld on more material to use the e36 tops, or the whole top turret of a e36. |
