Alright Tom...
The skinned red armadillo thing tunnels heat to the rear passengers, then u should have a gear lever gaiter instead of gaffer tape, I may have a spare gaiter, will check tonights for ya.
No pictures I'm affraid but yours looks ok of what I can see, if not a bit ratty. ;D
Oh yeah then i would have been covered by a big rubber mat stantard or retro fitted with carpet.

This is the best one I have: (And yes, the gear lever gaiter wasn't fitted properly when the pic was taken but it is now ) I'll try to take some better pics soon but I probably won't see it in daylight until the weekend.

thats groovy. So carpet over the dead armadillo, and a nice round gator. No if i can't find a volvo gator, i think i'm right in thinkin that the early Ford scrotes and fiasco's had round 'uns

There's supposed to be a huge rubber mat over the armadillo (covers the entire front floorpan, with another one covering the rear) as Stuart says. Carpets in Amazons were a mainstealer / aftermarket fit item & the only ones I've seen were designed to go on top of the top of the huge floor mats

No if I can't find a volvo gator, I think i'm right in thinkin that the early Ford scrotes and fiasco's had round 'uns My mk1 Escort definitely has a round gaiter, you'll also find round ones on mk1 & 2 Metros and Morris Itals!

Only if you're feeling flush with cash - can't remember the exact prices offhand, but IIRC they're over £100 each (not an unfair price though, given that they're very large, and moulded to fit rather than just a flat sheet cut to shape). Second hand ones do turn up - often damaged, but a set of normal aftermarket footwell mats over the top (I use carpet samples from work ;D) and some duct tape on the back to repair splits will normally sort that out . Ask on the VOC forum, as there are often a few people breaking cars (Stanley Windrush / Baz, & Gordon Hunter spring to mind). Also, I might have some blue carpets (full rear, & gearbox cover only - no front floor) surplus to requirements soon, if that's of any help
