G'day Great looking car, the RX2 was the best looking of the old Mazda's and has aged better than most 70's cars. I would be going 13B either 6 port injected or turbo, to give it the go to match the looks. Cheers Graham

So nice! Amazing to an old Mazda in such condition!
Any idea on how it was stored to keep it like that?
I have to agree on the wheels too. Get onto Yahoo.jp and track down some period 14's if possible imo.
Keep it up mate. She's a stunner.

Reminds me of a Renault at the front and a Fiat at the back, it all ties in very nicely with the usual attention to trim detail these little cars were blessed with. I'm happy to see you're keeping the trim and colour all looking fairly standard, it would be difficult to improve upon.

What a stunna! if I managed to get this into my bedroom i'd stay in there all week making grunty noises. Gotta respectfully put in a complaint about those wheels though! soz! Complaint duly noted... Alls I know is they look better than the mucky rollers it has been sitting on for 41 years! You many have noticed that the front passenger door card in some of the previous pictures looked pretty milky - this was a combination of the paint shop dust and the fact that the door card was wearing the plastic from its days back in the Mazda factory.... Now I'm the type of person that will leave the film on a mobile phone for maybe a minute before its junked - I know some people still have theirs after a year and it gets manky and scratched but they know under the cruddy film is an immaculate screen waiting for.... Well... For what I'm not sure - they'll never experience the screen that's never been exposed to the wear and tear of daily life. a mobile phone is one thing but a whole door card is another - so roll forward 40 years and here we are with a door card covered in grotty plastic.. Couldn't help myself so off it's come.... A quick wipe and it looks like new, but tbh the others are in pretty good shape anyways. Passenger rear for reference: For the purists out there - the passenger sunvisor still retains it's plastic covering! It goes against what I stand for, but it's outa my way so I guess it will stay....

Cheers Graham I have another car that is getting a bhp injection so not wanting this to get out of hand, however in saying that I have been toying with other ideas - nothing concrete but just seeing what bits I have laying about - I'm happy in the knowledge that a free breathing 12a in such a light car will be plenty peppy no matter what.

Lensos have been an antipodean staple for many years so I guess my eyes are desensitised to them! ;D My only other option is RX7 Series 3 'sundials' as per your originals - wonder what they would look like...?

If they're Lachie's refurbed ones they'd probably look da bomb albeit with the slightly upsetting stock +40 offset. I think the Lensos look fine in actual fact, just the diameter is too big for the car. For me old school cars just don't look right with big-inch wheels, but that's maybe my problem lol. Or maybe you spent too long amongst those weird Australian modification laws and have become immune? ;D

Pretty please. ;D Shame they are only 13"x5.5. Love the styling of the first Rx2/Capella's, and surprisingly 4-door over 2 ( if only Mazda had made a 4-door hardtop version).. Too many get carried away modifying them when they don't need it.

G'day The only wheel for it are Mini lite's, period correct, simple elegant rim. Not sure what you can get there but hear Performance make a clone that would be perfect. 15 x 6 polished rim with charcoal spokes, use a 185 65 tyre and they will fill the guard but stand up like the old cross ply's they came with. You may need to use a 14 to get the gearing right. They are what I have on my car only not the charcoal spokes mine are matt finish. Cheers Graham

The Lensos are +38-25=13 (wider though) so that would give you an idea. Engine going in on the weekend!!!!!

I'm loving this little car. These would look lovely under those arches. (just my opinion) Or 13x7 Revolutions like my 02?

+1 for those steels. They just look right in every way.
Really like the way this little Mazda is coming together.

I removed the inner rear fender cover where the fuel pump sits and it was chocko with leaves and mud and curse word but not really any rust. Unreal. 14s would be neat but oldskool J rims and getting rather pricey and pushing my budget a bit.
