Yes, you have a point with the Mitsubishi example, but there are many cases where that situation doesn't arise. Japanese parts prices are always ridiculous though. For example, a door mirror for a Mistubishi Pinin cost £150, plus it had to be painted to match the body! Nothing available second hand anywhere! Ford, Vauxhall and VW bits from the official dealerships are often surprisingly cheap though, then there are places like GSF and URO whom the body shops use for their repair parts. Mike Price up a complete mirror for a mk4 golf and you'll be looking at about £200.00 including paint! from VW.

Feel better after seeing that rust bubbling under the A-pillars, there could be major structural work needed there so its not the "quick wash off and its done" minter that I thought it was. Its a good reflection on the yard that they employ someone solely to deal with interesting stuff.

I bought some brake hoses from unipart because I was working on a saturday morning and they are closest but they had perished to the point of nothingness within 8 months! needless to say all my saftey items are now bought genuine or well know branded

was that not on ebay as a complete car a couple weeks ago? I'm sure i remember a red sapporo quite recently... round this area if a car has been 'scrapped' due to no road tax, they normally put an axe thru the roof panel to effectivley write the thing off... silly, but it is nice to see corsas with big holes in the roof...

Not quite, that was a LHD challenger but it was nearly identical

G&R Harris Car spares and Salvage at Nutbourne I know that yard as I used to live nearby but haven't been in for ages, as last time I did, it was almost entirely modern stuff. Was less than 2 miles away this weekend visiting family in the area - if I'd known about this, I'd have popped over to give you a hand!

That would have been great to have had a spare pair of hands, at one point I was resting my newly removed door on top of my toolbox whilst trying to cut the dodgy wiring (pliers were in toolbox) Unfortunatly I didn't get a chance to look around the rest of the yard but there was a LOT of new stuff.

It had also rotted out behind the rear mudflaps (Are mudflaps the stupidest thing ever? if you leave them on long enough they ALWAYS cause more rot!!) Yep thought that myself recently, along with body kits and inner wing protectors, and it looks like i'm buying into more of em! ;D Great work BTW two aweome Sapporos coming up! --- Good to see the parts getting used, it does seem backwads that this no tax ruling thing means they want the cars destroyed. and new cars made despite the environmental cost, well at least some are getting used for bits via nice chaps like this guy, and we already knew how corrupt and daft the whole govenment systems are!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts
