SIMCA Rallye 2 imported and converted to RHD in'79 hence the V reg. (R2 was never officially sold new un UK) then, after the unfortunate death of the original Uk owner was shut away until 2003 when it came to me. Years shut away means it has escaped some of the usual SIMCA 1000 rust. Have replaced O/S front door and wing which were damaged and obviously went through brakes etc. Engine is standard Rallye 2 (82bhp on twin Solex 35PHHcarbs. It had had a 4 branch exhaust added when I got it and I've fitted Spax shocks and the Revolution wheels. I originally replaced the R2 steels with 5x13 minilies but when I was offered the 6x13 Revolutions, the minilites were'donated' to my 1200S project. Mick

[imghttp://i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i347/wardsim/SimcasPrescottLVEB2011byIanHunt_DSC8352.jpg][/img] The Rallye 2 is a '75 model. The 'jaune Rallye' paintwork has strange effects in photos sometimes looking very Yellow other really greenish. Bitter Green is the equivalent colour in the Chrysler UK range. Pctured here on Prescott Hill in the cavalcade at their French car meeting.

I don't think SIMCA could decide what to call the colour... The label inside the boot of mine says 'Jaune Rallye'...I've seen cars exactly the same colour labelled 'Vert Acide' as you mention... confusing??? The only Rallye model officially sold new here in the UK was the 60bhp single carb Rallye 1.. in either Rouge Sarde or White. After '76, the only 1294 SIMCA 1000 model availble here was the 1294cc SR (my supercharged 1000 is one of very few of those left).

Rallye 2 now back on the road to replace my supercharged 1000 that needs serious 'rust surgery' ...R2 just needed overhaul of rear disc brakes. Parts shared with FIAT X19 so calliper seal, pads etc no problem. Needs (mostly original '75) paint tidying in places eventually. Seen here with modified SIMCA 1000 Special that I put back to standard and sold. 'big' wings/arches now fitted to My SIMCA/Honda track car. Mick

Have now welded this area up. Spent some time reinforcing the shocker mount below it with some thicker plate before I replaced the sheet metal above. Rot had spread into the door pillar just behind it. Have rebuilt that at the same time. I posted this (in French) on www.simca-competition.com . The guys on there suggested they often rot there because of brake fuid spills.... until they realised mine is right hand drive so the fluid reservoir is in the other side... although it was LHD from '75 to '79, at the beginning of its life.

Think all the 'junk' I carry in the front 'boot' kept it reasonably in shape.

Found NOS panels I needed amonst my stock of SIMCA bits in our loft. Cut off bent panels, knocked inners back to shape, luckily rad had survived the impact. Trimmed edges ready for welding. Just have to assess area of rust under battery box. S/H bumper will come from brother Kev. Headlamps I've got new and a pair of spotlamps turned up at a local Autojumble.

Check out the thread on SIMCA, MATRA, Talbot Intrenational Route UK 2014 on here. There were a few more Rallye 2's over from the continent.

Is that a 594cc Fiat 126 in the background, and what's that pickup based on?

The FIAT is one of my trackday cars. It is based on the SEAT built rehash of the FIAT 850, the FIAT 133. Mine's had a transplant of a 100+ bhp SIMCA Rallye 3 spec 1294 engine on bike carbs in place of the 850's 34 or so.... It GOES.!! The transplant was easy as the SIMCA and the small FIATs are closely related. The pickup is a SIMCA 1100 (in fact being a last of the line '84 model it's badged Talbot, the vans & pickups being made for some years after the Horizon replaced the 1100 hatchback)) and is currently undergoing a total rebuild... see thread on here 1984 SIMCA/Talbot 1100 pickup. Also there is a thread on the FIAT....1976 FIAT 133 1294 SIMCA ,

[img src="http://i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i347/wardsim/100_4031_zps95da21ad.jpg" alt=" " Finally getting round to sorting out the front end damage. Have NOS upper front panel. Have the lower one but it's for a standard SIMCA 1000 with the rear rad. The air intake for the Rallye 2 needs cutting out. Currently trimmimg and straigtening all the edges of the inner wings, 'boot' floor etc to attach the new panels and see where new bits of metal will be needed to fill any gaps. Photo shows another project waiting in the queue... a '56 SIMCA Aronde Grand Large pillarless coupe.
