Oooo, I'm feeling a 1.4 16v turbo for the polo, on megasquirt with bike tbs. Mmm. That would be a good £2.5k including all the necessary upgrades: engine, turbo, intercooler, megasuirt, tbs, brakes, suspension etc.
Loads of carbon bits and pieces for the Locost with the other £2.5k.
There we go.

£5k - mmmm!
Provided I managed to hide it before swmbo added it to the wedding / house deposit fund, then that's probably about what I need for sorting out my two heaps....

Cheers Alistair for that, I should really look at these for what it is in materials; A 80's-90's GM car.
I'm bricking it that they will go sky high, and they will end up like the Dodge Chargers and Muscle hero cars! Trying to keep it on top of the 'To Own' list, so it happens. It will be a long termer - but arn't they all! LOL

5k is an unimaginable amount of money I would buy a nice taxempt Rover p6 v8, in that mustard color ;D, smoothed tidied body work and maybe a few hot rod touches and of course a good whack with the stick. The rest of the money would be spend on petrol, a respray for the Toledo and lots of food and beer for me.

You can still buy a road legal charger for around this figure if you are very very lucky, I saw a 68 with tax and test but quite a lot of rust go on e-bay uk a few months ago for just over 5k.
Personally if i had 5k to spend then my chevy would have a built 4 bolt mains 350 SB and a nice new paint job. Thats about the 5k gone really.

I'm never one to throw money at vehicles, so its difficult to envisage £5k on the driveway. probably get a shabby f-1 pickup and spend the rest on a mild resto. or a really german spec 2.0s capri. £5k would pay for a 4 pump hydro system, batteries and wires for my 3.0 tho . hhhmmmmm, if only I really had that kind of money ;D ;D

And I thought this was going to be about Toyota 5K's..... Well, given £5k = $14,251.06 NZD, there's a hell of a lot I could do with it.... I'd throw 5 grand into an engine build for the Alfa, 1.7 shim tappet 8v, high comp, angry set of cams, bored, aim for a streetable and reliable 170hp. I'd throw another 5k into completing the KP, full 5K build up (the engine!!!!!!) slot my K50 in, set up a U code LSD, pair of race seats and decent shocks. Sorted. The rest, I'd probably start looking at kitting out my garage a little better.....

£5000 would see me having the Charmant stripped to a bare shell, treated and professionally resprayed in two-tone (top black, bottom silver), have all the interior fully refurbished and put back in, replace the 4K with a 20V 4AGE with some sensible modifications, nice wheels, bit of camber, expensive suspension and the rest I'd probably waste on some old rubbish!

And I thought this was going to be about Toyota 5K's..... If only I'd known what they are i may of come up with a slightly more creative thread to celebrate my ridiculous mileage! Feel free to add these cars to the thread. Great suggestions so far. I must say Nightmares has the cleverest though. Respect. great idea, bet theres a few of us here thinking that.

It wasn't one of those scam auctions was it? You know "email me on this address, don't use ask seller a question" I've seeen Charger rolling shells go for £5K or more recently.

I'm bricking it that they will go sky high, and they will end up like the Dodge Chargers and Muscle hero cars! I don;t see them going too mad. Theres no great interest in them inthe US and unlikely to be as they are bound by emissions regs plus there were no big blocks and no decent power options as stock. People will stick to paying good money for "real" muscle or will step upto the high tech performers like the Gen4 and GTO etc. Thats the way the market over there looks to be going. I can see the 80s stuff being left in the hinterlands really. Our market "sort-of-reflects" the US market.

Interesting to know, cheers, I will start saving somehow though, maybe the biggest prob is em all getting scrapped! weeds out the good ones though! Plus if i fail, i'll build a 90's pointy one , although that does not appeal as much.

being scrapped is an issue. Look at it this way. 70's Monza never got to be worth any money, but you can't buy one today as they are all gone... You hardly even see them in the states either. Worth nothing but none available.
