A while ago, I recall someone on here mentioning that quite a few brand new & unregistered MG and / or Rover ZT / 75 V8s were still for sale. Would appreciate any info about this, as my uncle is rather interested in buying one ;D. Also any info on parts availability / servicing etc would be much appreciated! Many thanks

Hi Paul, as you can imagine, there is a lot of chatter about these "brand new" cars on the Austin-Rover.co.uk forum.
My concern would be that no cars have been produced for some 18 months now - not sure it does a car much good to sit around outside for that long!

According to AutoExcuse the other week, MG Rover are still outselling several car makes just off the 'old stock' new cars. Most will be in reasonably good condition and the fact MGR failed 18 months ago isn't much to worry about as parts were sold off to Caterpillar well ebfore the crash and X-Part still supply the bits you will need. Just don't have a BIG crash in one, thats all.... PPC were very complementary of the V8, apart from the aircon, and I know several people who have had them and they are fairly bombproof. Try www.ukmgparts.com or AE Wilcox on 01454 294213.........

I probably wouldn't risk a 'brand new' one - the last of them were flung together with very little thought for quality control.
A bloke round the corner bought one - he must be blind as it looks as thought it's been in a prang and cheaply fixed, the panel fit is that bad.
There's something about them in PPC this month - they reckon you can get one for £14995. I suppose they'd be worth a look so long as you treat it as a used car purchase and crawl all over it before putting up the cash.

^^^^A lad at work bought a 25 just before the first news was coming out of the planned closure at the finish of that is the same. You can literally fit you finger between the back door and the rear wing, it looks like the door hasnt been closed absolutely shocking.

There is still a load at Longbridge just sitting around. You could try making enquires there. My mate used to work there once upon a time. He left in about 2000, but even then he was saying about the build quality with some of them. And how a lot of minis got wrote off even before they left Longbridge They used to race them round the storage part.

There are actually still some Rover dealers out there. As mentioned above, X-part ensure you can keep the thing running and the V8 is a stonking motor. To find out more than you'd ever need to know, go to www.austin-rover.co.uk and check out the 75 development story.
