i don't understand exactly what you wanna achieve, the 4x4 is a mk2 so you cant fit the front lights, wings and bonnet from the mk1 without a fair amount of sheet metal modding to it
the mk2 running gear will fit the mk1 but the rear antirollbar mounts will be different and will need moving, and you'll have to "adjust" the transmission tunnel with a club hammer so the transfer case fits, also geabox mounts will need moving.
probably better off finding a mk1 Xr4x4 and putting the povo spec bumpers lights and trim onto that one.

id either swap the mechanics over or, as popup says buy a mk1 Xr4x4 and swap the bumpers

Seems a shame to willingly trash a dangly mirrors Sierra. Dare I ask why not just use the MkII one as-is?

don't forget the mk1 4x4 ghia estate, only trim differences between it and the XR4x4 but its 1 insurance group cheaper and would be even MORE of a Q car with the poverty spec trim.
plus they are bloody usefull for carrying engines or sleeping in the back off.

*wonders what the sudden deal with asterisks is?*
Anyway, it was just a thought, wanted to rock up in something that looked povo, then blew the shorts off them as we blasted off the ferry!

In that case, my moneys on getting the '83 and putting something potent in it...... Hot 2.0 pinto? Essex? That would be pretty cool. Gearbox and diff might need swapping though, mind.

Or maybe that's just silly!
I know what you are getting at with the povo/beast thing. I LOVE Q cars - the wolf in sheeps clothing if you will. The Skoda packing a Fiat twin cam, the 2CV hiding a tuned flat four lump, the Vee Dub bus with a Porsche-sized sting in the tail.
But, early Sierras are getting rare and some should be preserved. Later XR4x4s will get rare too as they are so unfairly overlooked compared to a Cossie.

povo spec sierras will never be worth much, mines 20 odd years old, mint and a rareish 3 door and its still only worth a grand.
also don't forget you COULD fit 99% of the running gear from a 24v granada without altering any of the bodywork, so the car could go back to standard, this is what I'm doing after all.
