Hey there Doubleclutch.net
I have been to your page several times in several years when searching for various things, it is good to be able to have you on the forums to talk to.
I'm in little ol' New Zealand, (as is Snoozin' and his KP Starlet and "secret but not to me" project)
The population of J-cars over here is pretty high comparitively. I have a KHCG110 that's since been put on a tshirt that was for sale on Yahoo Japan!.. does that make it famous?? I would have loved one of the tshirts but buying things off Yahoo Japan is a bit of a mission.
My brother has an S30 and a VB110, I also have an N910 that's awaiting destruction unfortunately.
I would love a 330series Hardtop but the only one I have seen for sale over here has since gone. Reputadly only 1 or 2 of each series were sent here as demo/trial cars though there is likely to have been grey imports and private imports over the years too.
I look forward to you input in this friendly community that is Retro-Rides!

Hi all, I really thank you so much for giving me welcome messages! And also I'm really happy to see great pictures of your car. I believe we are exactly like-minded friends! I would like to answer some questions one by one.. About the rule of old cars in Japan. Officially, Japanese law is not so friendly to old cars. We have to pay +10% tax due to dirty exhaust (even if you replaced your engine to highly emission controlled VQ35DE! The tax will be charged based on the age of your car..). Also you can not take out a physical damage insurance because insurance company don't recognize the value of old cars. However, good thing is that car inspection is not so strict for old car, for example we don't need a catalytic converter for '74 or older car. Also government inspector is not so familiar with old car so sometimes they miss our illegal modification like bore up, lowdown and triple choke carburetor Some of my friends are using their old cars daily basis, but usually Japanese is transporting by train or bus on business day, so having a car is almost hobby (Not only old car but also other sports car. Especially in Tokyo.) In terms of Charmant, yes I know him very well. I was really surprised that there is a Charmant in UK! Charmant is super rare car in Japan, I know only one person who owns Charmant close to me, so when I saw his car first time, all we were blown away ;D He will be happy to hear that there is the same car in UK. I guess many of you guys are interested in deep rim wheels. In Japan, only less than "14 or "13 wheels are cool for old car. Until early '80s, wide (more than 8J) wheel is basically illegal in Japan, so there are not so many remaining deep rim old wheels in Japan. Most of them are trading by expensive price through Yahoo! auction. My Gloria is 5 hole, but it is more difficult to find out.. 4 hole is little bit easier to find. I would like to show some picture of my yard (Requested by rmad ) I'm renting my yard with some friends and there are some interesting cars. This is my yard, but the garage isn't mine, it's my friend's Can you see KP30 publica? There are tow KP30s. (Not mine, my friend's one.) Old american car is popular in Japan, but ambulance is not..maybe I'm only person who owns old real American ambulance in Japan ;D The 1st generation CROWN and rare 2door CROWN. Slip back in time to '70s.. Again, thank you very much and keep in touch!

Welcome from another newbie ;D I've had lots of fun with a Suzuki Whizzkid and Suzuki Cappuccino (Whizzkid pictured below with a slightly larger rear-engined car I had at the time ) But over the years I came very close to buying a Honda Beat and a Honda Z600 too. For years in the UK, Japanese cars were seen as Nissan Sunny clones, but now more and more people are getting to know more radical Japanese designs, I love them!

That C210/211 saloon looks very clean. Does it have L20 '6'? As I have never been lucky enough to see one in the flesh I can never work out what is different at the back end - the boot looks flatter than on my coupe, or is it just because the rear pillars are more upright?

Thank you all! But unfortunately most of cars are not mine. I rent a yard with several friends and share the land. (Sometimes we also share a car) But anyway it's a dream yard for me to spend my weekend with friends. Mike, does your 929 have a RE engine? Recently I'm really interested in buying RE car but my dream hasn't came true yet.. Few days ago, my friend bought LUCE RE Limited (very clean!) I really want to put RE13B side ported engine into this car, but my friend might not allow me to do it Garethj, I have no idea about big rear-engined one!!! Is it east european car? Alistairk, I will try to find more my car's picture, but I realized that I have very few picture of my car..I always take a picture of someone's..these pictures are from friend's site. Spottedlaurel, that C211 is also my friend's one. He has good web site about C210/211 Skyline, so please check it. skylinejapan.way-nifty.com/tomayan/He has three Skylines and that silver one is L20E Turbo charged. 4 door Skyline has flatter boot.

Hopefully next year will see either a Nissan SR20DET or an RB25DET. The RX-4 was the RE engined version over here, with the same body as the 929.

Thanks for the yard pictures! Here's one of my own: Perhaps if it wasn't dark and my memory card hadn't been full I'd have some more! ;D I feel honoured to have been there and I know I've said it before but I'm going to say thanks again anyway! If I'd have seen what was in there in the daylight I don't think I would have ever left! ;D ;D Did your friends enjoy the magazines?

Some great images pf you and your friends cars there! On another note, I own a 1980 Toyota Corolla KE70..... which is currently taking a tranformation to a 4age conversion.... What I was wondering is, I really would like to know how rare these are in Japan?? Ive seen them on Yahoo auctions a few times but they don't pop up that often. And also, I REALLY want to find a front splitter like this for it .... or like this... and is there anychance you are friends with the guy 'Hiro' from Group5 or know of him? Thany you very much in advance Doubleclutch!

Damn thats HAWT! I simply must own one of them right now or I will burst. Looks kinda like a Chrysler 180 crossed with an early AMC Matador or something. Wild. Love it. Love the colour too.
