The girlfriends neighbour has a G-reg sedan Ovlov.... He was given the estate below by a friends son, after friend died. He has 3 cars on his drive, and mentioned to the GF that he was not sure what to do with the estate he was given. Currently parked on GF's drive, as his is full up. I could take it off him to butcher.... into a pickup truck if it is a reasonably feasible task. The car is a "G-reg" 240 GLT Autobox, with 130k miles, leather interior, which seems well used. No rust to be seen, headlight reflectors seem dull and knackered in the conventional sense. I understand it has MOT and possibly some tax. What do the wise ones on Ovlov matters have to say ? What motors do they have, what vices etc....? What are they worth ? Do I take it on if offered? Is it worth chopping into a Pickup, rather than have the neighbour strip the parts he wants, and crushing the rest?? Does anyone with a quick photoshop skill want yo Photo-Chop this into lower, mattblack with green flames, and as a pickup with the cut about one third through the rear door and on the glass line ?Love the slab sided front end...... aerodynamic as a brick.

It would certainly be different. I've never even thought of one of these as a pickup before. Not sure why not, I reckon it would look rather good.

There's a guy on the Volvo OC forum who has a 260 pickup and also a 245 trailer ;D
This car sounds too good to hack up though.

There was some really dodgy show on Bravo or something years ago where two teams had to make money off some cheap cars, one time they converted a 240 Wagon into a yellow pickup as I recall!

It may bee too good to hack, but if Dave is gonna strip it, and store bits and skip the rest, I suspect it may be an option for me to "play " with it. Kyteler....... This is waht I mean, and what I needed. I do like it, and if executed correctly.... it willlllll look good. Thanks a lot.

I'm of the opinion that it's only a Volvo, and if it's as good as the pics show it is a far better proposition to cut up than a rusty wreck.Afterall you want to be doing just the conversion not welding up rusty floors etc do'nt you? Heres the Mercmadmans contribution ...W126 380SEL Merc Pickup. f27.parsimony.net/forum66434/messages/36559.htmTry again.....

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.

If it was going begging I'd be in the queue. Those GLT alloys and the leather interior would be quite nice on mine.
Otherwise, I agree that it would look nice as a pick-up. I remember that prog about the yellow one. £500 to buy a car and customise I believe. The other team in the prog did something really simple and spent the balance of the money on beer!

PS: Spoke to claire earlier on, and she had been around to her neighbours, now he has decided to keep it, as his wife has recommended he do so, as the son wanted the car to carry on being used.
I will watch this space..... as he has a sedan as well, and then his Polo van, and an Escort for the wife..... hmmmm, Space issue ?

The telly programme was Car Sharks and they were a team of surfers from Newquay. Thje car wasn't a true full pick-up, more of a crew cab with ally rear and liner - still looked the nutts tho'....
