I'd definitely have a really early Toyota Century: All you need to do is lower the suspension and you're away!

E23 FTW. There nothing quite as evil looking as a big shark, on the deck, in black, with pimped out rims. Hmmmmm...... I'm off to ebay! OOOoooooh you could fit a 4.0 Bimmer v8.... side exit exhaust.... a charger.... dechrome.... big dish....... I'm liking it. Lots. New daily ride plan!

some of these cars are well out of the "couple of grand" range LOL. 'specially the 50s Cadillacs, even wrecks make £5K+ Mid 60s Lincoln Continental Sedan has to be the most sinister, Imperials are coming up close behind. Build me one of these.... Too school for cool

Some great ideas guys. And while not in the £2kish price range, I was thinking along the lines of a car you would spend proper money on as the base, rather than buying to "unwanted bangers" and "unloved old heaps of poop" that we all really adore on here.
And making said proper "investment" into a real show winner. You know I completly forgot the british angle here. Don't have any photos will try to add some in the morning, but what about the Humber Imperial/Super snipe (finned wonder type not the older ones) and the P5B Coupe, or the original proper S-Type Jag. Not as big as the yanks and such, but all have a Presence about the grille and light arrangement.

I'd definitely have a really early Toyota Century: All you need to do is lower the suspension and you're away! I was torn on which century. The older one didn't quite look right, but the newer one looked a little too new but not quite. But I do like both.

I'm surprised this hasn't made an appearance on this topic yet: From the 1977 title, 'The Car' ;D still a pretty good watch to be honest! How about: The Charger from Bullitt
