Hi guys, I just got in from college and was sat down eatting some toast reading the local rag and came across this article: hereWhat can I say: I'm outraged. So, he is curse word, speeding and driving dangerously. He knocks someone unconcious and all he gets is a bit of community work and no prision sentence. What is he going to learn from that though really? It makes my blood boil.

Well, its not quite as light as you make out in the original post.
He wasn't that far over the legal limit. Not that I advocate drink driving but that could have been 2 pints. Hardly pished. I'd be bummed if I got that little lot he did. Mind you I don't drink anything when driving usually - maybe one pint or one glass of wine if I've gone for a meal somewhere. But any of us could take a corner wrong and lose it.

its a general board, everthing doesnt have to be retro Yes it does, to be honest. That has been a fundamental part of this forum from the very beginning - keep it on-topic, ie about retro cars

Too be honest its not so much the amount of alcohol (which is relatively low but still more than enough to affect his driving) or even the fact that he had a crash its the fact he hit some one knocked them over (and out) then legged it. How did he know he hadnt killed them. When you add all the factors together and he only gets an 18 month driving ban, thats not on. And when you combine all points together it should have been more. Admittedly he wouldnt get a custodial sentence as that just doesnt seem to happen with relatively young offenders these days due to the state of the prison system [ben elton mode] O, a little bit of politics there [/ben elton mode off] (thats for all saturday live/friday night live fans) A lad used to work for me and got caught over the limit the morning after going out and he was banned for driving for 18 month as well. Apologies for the comment being off topic But to keep it in the spirit of RR
