Future Publishing has announced that it is to cease publication of Retro Cars magazine with immediate effect. The current issue on sale will be the last and issue 43 will not be printed. Editor Paul Wager and Features Editor Richard Hammond will be leaving the company on Friday, November 17. Art Editor Mark Field will be moving to Windows Vista magazine. We would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has made the magazine such fun to work on over the past few years. We had produced a large part of issue 43 before the decision was taken and subject to management approval we hope to post the completed pages at www.retrocarsmag.co.uk in due course. Any announcement of this news which you may already have seen elsewhere yesterday will have been the result of my private email to contributors being posted to a forum. Paul Wager Editor

does this effect the show at santa pod in anyway? It's mentioned on the other thread - apparently not, and the name is going to change I think

Thanks for offering the latest issue online and letting us know, what are your plans now?
|

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Terrible news. I have to admit I stopped buying it myself a little while back but only due to lack of money to buy any mags with (I have a car stuff budget) but had started again recently.
I even got my pic in the mag, the cheesey photo competition they ran each month for a free subscription.
Sadly I've lost that issue. Best buy the present one then as it's the last.

Oh and I should point out that I don't personally know what will happen to the show. If it happens next year, I'll be there though!
The Future magazine websites server is down currently I think which explains why you can't reach the website.

The Future magazine websites server is down currently I think which explains why you can't reach the website. I know the date is booked at Santa Pod,.. but Ian was a bit cagey about if it would happen without the magazine a couple of months back. It was then asked as a straight question when in discussion about buying the title and they said without the magazine it wouldn't run. I'd be pleased if it did go ahead, but it seems more and more unlikely at this point. btw, whatever my opinion of the magazine (and ironically I've been enjoying the last few issues much more) I think it is absolutely scandalous that they arn't putting out the last issue and allowing the magazine to bow out gracefully.

Paul Wager Editor curse word. I've been waiting to see what you were doing with your Alfa 75 to give me ideas for mine, too. Hope everyone concerned finds work elsewhere. If you have any nice 75 bits kicking around the office, you know where to find me :P
