What a shame all car forums cannot be like Retro Rides As you can see I'm about to be 'shot to curse word' on the Car Mechanics Forum again. www.kelsey-forums.co.uk/cgi-bin/cmm/YaBB.pl?num=1162733402It was all because I had a go at someone 'in the trade' who gleefully told me he would like to 'Torch' my MGB GT, unfortunately this member was a high poster so thus allowed to get away with it It would appear the 'clique' never forgot Reason I originally signed up to Car mechanics forum is because I thought they would be like us ...into keeping old motors running; however it would appear they are a certain kind of 'group' and perhaps don't like new people ? As you can see in this post I tried to laugh it of at first but no luck ...perhaps I should take a steaming hot cup of STFU

Yer you're right ...it was just abit of a shock thats all . I could understand being told off by some purist for my 'B' not being original on a MGB Forum and recently my J-tin got 'roasted' for not having the original fitment wheels at a 'classic Japanese meet' ...that I can accept. But I wrongly presumed that the people on 'car mechanics' (as the actual magazine is very good for keeping stuff going) would be (as I said earlier) into keeping cars 'rollin' ; oh well, I've learnt

It was actually oldman and when I had a go at him (as I'm sure anybody would if they gleafully told you they would like to damage your car ) all the rest started firing at me as well I think perhaps it was 'cause I was a 'new boy' and yet all I wanted to do was talk about running and mending cars (< so I do it all here now ) **perhaps all the members who 'attacked' me are same person ? **

I think they mean crabbing Mat - where the cars wheels or chassis are not aligned correctly so the car, whilst moving in a straight line, has its body pointing at an angle, like \ so - but continuing forward in a straight line. Usually occurs if the suspension takes a heavy knock, distorting its mounts and so on

That's mad, every 106/saxo/ax I see on the roads does that though.
Always did wonder what caused that effect.

I've been on that forum and to be honest its not all that. I used to use it a fair amount but now I have better places to get info. There is a clique, but there is on all Forums really, and its a lot of the time about motor trade guys feeling a bt superior to the general public who don't know how to fix up cars. They don't like classics. But then most mechanics I know in the trade don't much either.

Cavmad Many, Many thanks for your kind sugestion (I feel like the cavalary is coming to save me now ) BUT as Darren says we don't want a 'shoot out' as It could give 'Retro Rides' a bad image. As said earlier I didn't want a fight but merely felt I had to share this as It somewhat 'caught me out'
