The Micra thread reminded me...
Weds evening, leaving work I was waiting at a junction to turn right, with my right turn signal on and a Micra pulls along side me on the right... flip-wit. Anyway I gesture that I'm turning right, idiot, and I pull out.
Anyway less than 300 yards up the road, theres a whack. my head hits the head rest hard and the car shunts forward about 2 feet. Its the same sodding Micra and now he's rear ended me...
So I get out, bloke egts out of Micra, he's about 4'8" tall 50ish and driving a sh!t box of a '92 Micra, no significant damage to our OAPmobile except some paint scrapes (I was stationary, but in neutral and no brakes on) so I reckon he doesn;t need the insurance hassle, I don't need the insurance hassle and he's appologising like a mad thing. So I said "Just don;t do it again" and drive off. Head hurt quite a bit for the evening where I hit it, but other than that no harm done.
Poor old car's starting to acquire battle scars though!
5 mins later as I go througha junction a Mondeo (turning left off the cross road) and an Audi A4 (turning right off the cross road) decide to argue over wqhgo goes first, screach of tryes as they try to avoid each other, both nearly rear end me, then the Audi prioceeds to drive 2" off my back bumper spending more attention on making rude hand jestures at the Mondeo than at my rear end, then tries to overtake me on the left using a bus stop, so I let him through
I have learned, let the idiots go first...

<snip> I have learned, let the idiots go first... Wise words indeed..... I'll add to idiots - anything with a foreign plate and round my neck of the woods anything that remotely looks like it's being driven by a septic

I am tempted to put 'bull bars' on front of the Audi, and some bars coming off the very substantial tow bar at the rear...
COME GET SOME!

I used to get really curse word at these monkey ass fools. But now I just let em get on with it, and rely on darwin to sort it out - just hope nothing else that's living is involved when the inevitable happens.
p.s. have noticed that since going from my nice shiny focus to my battlescared curse word heap capri people seem to be far less agressive towards me and always let me nip through gaps/ give me right of way ;D

If you remember I did a post a bit back stating how I find people in Modern/New cars drive like mad ...
...christ!, if I ever shell the asking price out for a new car I'd be driving it ever so careful due to the money it would have cost!

Darwin don't work anymore IMO with benefits etc; Survival of the thickest these days! (thats if i'm on the right track) True you get more respect from like minds on the roads, and yes, let the idiots go first. 90% the reason i only drive to work on school holidays, some of those school-runner people are brain dead!

some of those school-runner people are brain dead! only some of them !! the kids they take to school are just as stupid though don't they teach the green cross code anymore. take just this morning for instance seems like if they see a car coming that means its time to cross the road very slowly looking at thier feet all the way , couple of them have got the message round my way though when they look up and see that i'm not stopping and that my car has pretty substantial metal work right at the front instead of the soft plastic cushens that most modern cars have its quite surprising how fast they can actualy move when they have to ;D oh just before anyone says anything about speeding near schools ect. this is normaly approching a junction local to me so i'm probably doing less than 15mph stopping/speeding isn't the issue it's these idiot uneducated kids with idiot uneducated parents thinking they can always just blame thier stupidity on the motorist by delibratly walking out in front of us they soon work out its not a good idea . sorry about the rant there but i feel much better now carry on ;D

Same thing annoys me with kids. Out on my pedal bike I managed to bowl two kids over (out a fair sized group) when they tried it, not realising how fast I was going and not leaving me anywhere to go. Bet they won't do it again... I take great pains to always cross the road in a green cross code style when out with my kids, and they are only 2 years old. It's surprising how many smiling/approving looks are given when I'm doing this, with (generally older) people stopping to watch. After that, I started noting just how many people just don't teach their kids the same when they are out... Anyway, quick and dirty mock up for dealing vehicle equiped numpties: I like it

Reminds me of my Favorit Estate I used to own. I fitted a 7 seat conversion kit, and because I was worried about the kids in the back being vulnerable in the event of a rear ender I had some huge RSJ type strengthening bars welded in behind the bumper, as well as to the tow bar! Some years later, after I'd given the car to my mum someone did rear end it in a MK5 Escort. The Escort was totalled....my mum drove home without even a broken light!

Anyway, quick and dirty mock up for dealing vehicle equiped numpties: I like it Looking good, but with these on it and driven with a certain level of "intent" most people just didnt want to go there ;D Cant find a full on Frontal shot at the moment, but 6 lamps in pods is pretty serious ;D

I was looking for that 2nd piccy... F*** me it looks good. Been looking for anything cheap but similar that I could adapt... even thought about having a go at the 'lost foam' grp method. Progress has ground to a bit of a halt due to the busted leg - it's had new rear discs, shoes and hoses. Repaired the horn/steering wheel. Sorted the replacement rad, picked up a brand new screen for £30 from Ebay, and will order some 205/50 R15 Toyo's next week. Plus local scrappy has a 90 in with complete set of side trims, and a good white wing and door. Plus picked up some 15" Speedlines (fake splitrim type) for £10.50, so they will go on later after re-furb, as they are one of my all time favourite factory wheels. Aiming for on road for 1st December, from when I will be praying for snow (having found out which wire to cut to allow the diff to stay locked above 15mph )

Also this was another inspiring Lamp pic If you find someone who will make a mold, you can borrow the real pod to copy, or failing that, keep the real one and let me have a new blank one back

The 205's are only a tenner or so more - plus they are 'reinforced' sidewall, and I like the idea of the slight extra width (they will get serious abuse ). Even the extra 5mm ground clearance will be useful How much you want for the mirrors? I also might take you up on borrowing the pods to take moulds... I'm afraid I still like the idea of doing the whole thing matt black as well

They are the fully heated electric ones and cost me £35 +p&p off ebay, would rather they ended up on something decent than back on the bay ;D

really good advice Alistair. its worth following for your own safety. I realized that when I had that road rage innocent with the transit. the other evening I was traveling along a dual carriageway approaching a roundabout. its one of these roundabouts where the left had lane is left turn or straight ahead, and the right hand lane is right turn only. well, i was going straight ahead so was in the inside lane. about 5 metres before the roundabout some bint decided she wanted to be in my lane, so started indicating and pulling into my lane despite me being parallel with her. thankfully i braked and avoided contact. i was fuming at this point though, and followed her along the next stretch of road, before coming to another roundabout which she entered and left without any indication. rather than getting angrier, i stopped at the side of the road for a minute or two, and then continued on my way in a proper fashion. this sort of clueless annoying - ignore the motorcyclist - sort of driving really pisses me off. oh, and stupid parent driving doesn't stop at school! it continues at college. Since September I have witnessed countless acts of thoughtless - and therefore dangerous - driving by parents dropping their kids off. I could go on for hours and hours, but to summarize, as a general rule, if someone wants to pass I allow them and try my hardest at all times not to get frustrated. DaveRapid's story with the reinforced Favorit sounds like Karma to me
