Very nice and very red.
With the large wheels/big arches/no bumper combo, it will look just like the Tamiya RC I built a few years ago!

Where did you get the arches from ?? Can't remember where from, it was probably minisport. They're group 5 arches Good luck with the build!

I don't mean to hi-jack the thread, but here is the carpetted headlining I mention about a month ago... Wow actual living room carpet! Nice haha, I was thinking more the black felt kind of stuff you get from car shows. But thinking about it, could have some fun with a bold house-carpet design Hmmm... And thanks Luke! Pics of the paint to come soon

Lenny is primed, painted and polished! Pictures speak a thousand words on this one, so I'll let them do the talking... Reflection on the wings: Reflection on the arches: So happy with the result, my dad's done an amazing job and can't thank him enough Now let the build commence! Tom

that paint looks ace :-) As for the carpet roof-lining I wanted something light cos the rest of the interior is dark and a light coloured headlining makes it more spacious / "airy"... Otherwise it was so cheap it could be considered free in comparison to fitting a new lining and taking the front and rear windscreens out... But yes, its your car, feel free to experiment!! I'm sure there are some awesome patterned jobs out there, just got to find one!!

Cheers guys! And we went for black in the end, as the interior is mainly red paint so it being too dark won't be a problem. In fact the black tones it down quite nicely
Maybe after a few builds I'll have the guts to go for bold patterns and stuff, but as this is our first one it's nice to keep it relatively toned down with subtle hints
Update to come in a minute...

The build is coming on now This week we covered the rear bench, rear bulkhead and roof interior in black carpet that we picked up at a show for a fiver which has turned out really well and makes it look smart. This now meant we could bolt the roll cage in through the plates we welded in before, and with the new carpet on the roof it no longer rubbed on the headlining which was previously a concern. Also, I bought a pair of jewel rear lenses!! Don't worry I haven't gone mad, I got some red spray tint at the same time and I'm chuffed with the end result - there shouldn't be too many like this about! I've gone for the US spec look at the back, and I'm thinking about getting a US show plate to finish off the look but we'll see... The only problem now is getting it through an MOT with fully red lenses, so I'll probably stick the old mk4 ones on for that. The plan is to wire up the fog lights to where the reverse lights used to be, and do away with reverse lights all together which, coupled with some new orange indicator lenses, SHOULD make it okay to drive about on the road with and avoid the attention of the plod. Hopefully. PICTURES! Rear interior: Cage bolted in, and rear bin arrangement: New lights: The rebuild continues... Tom

Other people will straighten me out on here but I think there is an MOT requirement for cars post-1980 to have working reversing lights?? Sounds like a tidy way of getting fog lights which, again, are an MOT requirement post 1980... Hence why I'm glad my car is a 1979 :-)
Otherwise sounds like the build is going along nicely :-) Keep it up!!

My understanding was that IF you have them they have to work, but it's not a requirement of the test to have them. Either way, my red, white and orange ones will be going back on for the MOT and I'll bolt the fog light on behind the rear valance just to get through the test It is cheers! Next up is welding the steering wheel boss on and building up my new rear subframe

Hi, this is looking really nice. loving all the work that's gone into it! Just to clear up on the reversing lights, they are not a testable item at all, you are in fact not allowed any white light showing from the rear of the car or it will fail. My supra should have reversing lights but I broke the connection when changing the box and have now been through two MOTs without them, it is a 1991 car.

You can't buy happiness but you can buy cars and that's kind of the same thing.
