Chaps and chapesses - an idea for you
i thought of this ages ago, but seeing the tot rod thread has reminded me.
There is quite a gradient at Mallory, and I'm keen to look into seeing if we can hold a soapbox derby there.
What do you guys think to the idea? And out of those who love the idea, who would actually bring something along and compete?

rules and regs would be kept to a min. A max size and max weight would be in place, with a min drivers eye level something along those lines

Sweet! Its just with my lack of welding abiltiy I would prolly be using a completely stripped down Kettler go kart chassis with somekind of body work bolted/rivited on. Would that be acceptable or shall I try to fabricate a chassis myself??

That would be a cool little project to crack on with over winter, they can't be all that tough to build to a basic level. I would need someone to drive mine though, think i might be at a disadvantage ;D

Depends on the length of the course and the gradient. I reckon you could get up quite a head of steam with a good shove, Tigran. 'Potential energy' and all that

Aaah! Sorry for my slowness, but I just spotted this thread and I seem to have a big smile on my face. Mallory Park is literally up the road from me, and is a great venue Top stuff.

If gravity racing goes ahead, it's often best to have a 'launch ramp' to assist at the start...
I reckon that, with regards to rules at least, mark out a rectangle on the floor, say 'it has to fit in there and weigh no more than xxKg'
Also a ban on 'exotic' materials?
Or we'll have J and Dom pwning all with a carbon/titanium sled.
