these are the 7 transits, or 8, if you include the different front on a diesel mk1. Transit Mk1 (petrol) Transit Mk1 (diesel) Transit Mk2 Transit Mk3 (the design spanned 3 different 'mks', and about 15 years). Around 1986 Transit Mk4 (the front's a bit different including the lights) Around 1992 Transit Mk5 (obvious grille change and rear corner black grille additions). Around 1998 Transit Mk6 Transit Mk7

so the usual ford trick of claiming it's a whole new model when all they have done is modified 3 bis of trim.

If you look, the Mk7 is a heavily modified Mk6. It looks totally different, but look at the back end. Mk6 Mk7

Mk 3 is the one isn't it. although the 4, and 5 don't deserve their own mark really. I like the 6 it looks like a transit, the mk7 reminds me of the new Land Rover Disco
|

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Does the Taunus Transit count? No. That would be the equivalent of the Mk1. Although perhaps older. It isn't a proper transit.

Not the first time, either.... vs. IIRC the original Disco was described as 'a heavily glazed transit'... probably by clarkson....

Yeah, skitting the poor thing!! ;D I remember when he described a hill-shy Lada as a 'communist piece of junk'!! Anyway, I see the resemblance betweek a Transit Mk1 and the discovery. It's the front lights and indicators!! ;D

Called a Transit? check QED, it's a ford transit. Next thing you'll be setting up a special club, just for Transits built between 12th of december 1985 and 30th April 1987 (STRICTLY ORIGINAL CONDITION ONLY - NO MODIFICATIONS), just like all those other Ford loonies who set up 'splinter clubs' to fight between each other with 5 members each....

So you agree, thank God, it wasn't a tested theory! I need an early Disco at some time in 3 door for extra cool points
