That's a shame, but looks ok considering.
I rolled an Escort once and the roof didn't even move that much

He must have been barely moving when he hit him, because Minors are definitely not strong cars in a side impact! Perhaps it happened on ice and the Minor's tyres had no grip so it just slid out of the way. I can definitely tell you that if a Minor escaped that collision intact, then any modern car would have fared better!

I know (of) a few people who have come out of accidents in Morris Minors and have done well for not getting hurt. I think a lot of it is luck though. I think the Minor is better than a lot of cars of its era too.

He must have been barely moving when he hit him, because Minors are definitely not strong cars in a side impact! Perhaps it happened on ice and the Minor's tyres had no grip so it just slid out of the way. In the link, it says that the Minor was flipped over. I think the Minor is better than a lot of cars of its era too. Indeed - I've always understood that they're built like the proverbial brick privy. The new owner of my old one (my first car) had a head-on collision with a Corsa a couple of years ago. The Corsa came out a lot worse (badly buckled roof etc), whereas the Minor is back on the road. There was also the one on the BBC accident reconstruction show '999' a while back, which had a large truck roll onto it.... I never saw that episode, but apparently the emergency crews weren't expecting any survivors, and credited the driver's escape due to the car's strength.

Damn. I was admiring that Moggie at the Hollies meet only a couple of weeks ago.
The important thing is, it did its job - Ash & Ms. Ash are OK.
