It's always dangerous starting any kind of Top Gear themed thread on here because it'll inevitably get quickly filled with whingers saying blah blah Top Gear's sh!te blah blah the USA one's even worse blah blah pointless wrecking classic cars blah blah rubbish script blah blah but, with due sense of trepidation, here goes...Top Gear USA is starting again on BBC3 tonight, with a double-bill at 7pm. Watch it, if you like that kind of thing. (If you don't, don't.) I'll be watching, I love it. ;D

If I'm honest once the presenters has settled in after a few shows and I managed to not get angry at the pronunciation of chassis and aluminium, I think I enjoyed Top gear USA more than normal Top gear of late.
It felt a bit more like UK Top gear of a few years ago when they hadn't quite run out of ideas and didn't spend the whole show doing staged bickering.
I doubt I'll go out of my way to watch it, but if it's on I probably wont turn it off....

I rather enjoyed watching the USA version (more so now than the UK one), especially when they have a challenge with old(er) stuff, as it's US cars that we're not as familiar with over here. Is that a new season, or just repeating the first season?

If you haven't seen the "truck for under 3k" Alaska trip then I definitely recommend it! It had RR written all over it and is just the sort of thing I can see guys on here doing! And I agree, it did feel a bit more like TG of old, even though the presenters are a bit wooden Oh, and they have a proper racing driver as well!!

some good stuff to come.
have to admit, their alaska trip and the moonshine episode are frequent watches for me whilst doing other stuff. the caddy jumping on the dirt track is pure laughter.

Watched most of these on Youtube, really enjoyable, more so than much recent UK top gear, the truck challenges (both modern and old) were highlights for me..
Towing a freight train with a Super duty Ford... ace!

I've watched a few from the most recent season thanks to finalgear, it's motoring enterainment that doesn't suck all the time. the Movie cars for under 2k was good fun (90's Grand Am, anyone? ) Some of it is better, some of it is worse, some of it is too American to compare. It's still better than 90% of what's on the telly at the time.
Is Fifthgear on a break?

just watched the alaska special on youtube as I forgot to bring a book to work. :-( Any jobs going where you work? ;D As for Top Gear, everything everbody says about it is true, but it's still better than a lot of tripe on telly. Especially if, like me, you are a bit sad and have nowt better to do on Friday nights than stare at the idiot box
