Hi all, Sold my Saab 99 turbo and will be collecting this MGBGT tonight. i'll post up more details in a rides thread as i've got a number of plans for it......which will probably upset the flatcaps..... the car: ![](http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb291/maph2/MGBGT/P1010027.jpg) the silver wires are ok but the silver is a bit tired so the plan is to go either red or cream. both colours go well against the grampian grey paintwork. the interior is currently black but it will be changed for red at a later date. here is an american GT with red wheels: ![](http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb291/maph2/MGBGT/4762754502_f1c4898750_o.jpg) and a healey with cream wires (sorry my googlefu was lacking): ![](http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb291/maph2/MGBGT/56austinhealey1s.jpg) So, red or cream (or stay silver!)....its over to you.. cheers Matt

Before I'd read your options I was going to say black but then a deep maroon would be pretty cool ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Tidy looking car. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

My first thought was red and I was just as surprised to see it as an option as I was not to see black.
I'd go for red, especially as the interior is going red too. It's my favourite colour combo.

I'd go deep red, almost maroon
What year is the GT? Mine's a 67 and was originally Grampian Gray too. It's now primer red and waiting to be painted deep BRG like the MGA posted above.

Worth also thinking about main interior colour vs piping colour - contrasting piping can really lift the look of an interior, e.g. black with red piping or dark red with grey piping.

Just had a second thought. If you're keeping the wires that means you're presumably not going silly with wheel width. So how about a set of early B steels, also in dark red, with baby moon hubcaps.

its a very early 67 (3syncro box, no reverse lights), originally red but restored back in the mid 90's and painted what i'm assuming to be grampian grey. yes, when I say red wheels, i mean maroon or mg engine block dark red. seth - if the car had come with bolt on wheels, i'd have fitted some unsual wheels (i have a few sets of 4x114's in stock). as the car was originally ordered with wires, i'm gonna stick with them. according to the paperwork, the wires were replaced with new ones in the 90's so there is plenty of life left in them. depending on cashflow, i would like to go up to 15" wires like on MGC's (i have a fibreglass MGC bonnet in stock too ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Matt

Red is pretty cool, and would look great if you ever have whitewalls.

If it was mine I'd go satin black. However all the chrome would then have to go satin black to blend in with the theme.

Red looks the part I think. If only we could lose our front number plates over here too - every car would be suddenly become more attractive.

well, i picked up the MG last night. did 70 miles no problem then the oil pressure suddenly dropped and started bouncing up to 50psi. had been on constant 50psi all the way doing around 60-65mph. i understand this was the longest journey the car had done in at least 8 years. pulled into the services and found oil sprayed around the engine bay. looks like an oil cooler hose has a tiny fracture, so with hot thin oil, the engine will have used a bit of oil (they all do) and the PO has said the oil was just over mininum ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) i checked the level and there was still oil inthe sump but got the AA to lowload me the last 30 miles. hoping the engine is ok, sounded fine when i pulled into the services. i'll start a new thread in the rides section.
