First off is myt mate Graham's Somerset. I love this car because it looks like what it is - a well travelled old car. Thing is he bought this as a £100 banger race refugee. It lived all its life by the coast and was used on the beach so you'd expect it to be rotten as hell. It wasn't. It was a bit beaten up and non-running. Now a lot of people would have gone for a strip down and respray and use new parts and new chrome etc. But Graham wanted to recreate the Somerset as he recalled them from his youth (his dad had a second hand one years back in the day) so almost all the original paint has been preserved, he's hunted out better used parts rather than club repro or recon items (esxcept for the rubber seals, brake parts and the hub caps - he could only get NOS ones of those) Repairs have been made and brush painted or rattle canned in as appropriate to retain the patina. Looks great to me and its 100% rust free and runs and drives great. Interior feels worn and comfy but not knackered. Has real character He's even (shock horror) retained non-period add-ons which the car has qcquired over the years as they are all part of its history as a living, driving, used car. Next up are some spots from by my in-laws house I took on SUnday. Theres tons of good cars round by them, mostly on their street! Theres a garden full of old tat I didn;t photo as I din;t walk up that way until it was darker. But here's a small selection. Amazing whats out there without even looking too hard. Skyline and Golf are next door neighbours 2 doors down have this ace Capri. His other car is a brand new Mitsi Evo. Landy Tough! The next shots are of a mates cars, he lives in the next street to my in-laws. He has a Mustang which he bought as a 2.3 Auto and is now a 5.0 5 speed manual. Well, it will be when its finished. Terrible photo #1 And this is his Corsair. Check out the rear axle & wheels... Pro street baby. This will have a Ford smallblock V8 302 (already to go in, bay all prepped and ready to go for it) Not an ace photo either #2 Finally - just to give you an idea of the scal of a Dodge Ram, this is a V10 STR-10 version parked up with two normal cars...

Cool Somerset! I like the way he's gone about the resto. Loving the Corsair too! Dumb question time... What are those wheels on that Golf?
That Ram is vulgar.

Top grammar tips! Bought = purchased. Brought = relocated Lose = misplace/opposite of win. Loose = your mum

The problem with the Mustang shot is that it was taken inside in the garage on a phone with no flash with me standing on a pile of old dashboard bits. It coult be a Cortina or anything in that photo couldn't it! All we can say for sure is that its blue!
The Somerset feels like a real time warp. Its been off the road since '77 or '78. He's just looking for a replacement rear bumper. He wants one in tired original chrome but no rust and thats proving tricky.

1st -great thread - I always enjoy spotted threads. I've got a phone full that I need to get on to my computer when I'm back on the Wight. 2nd: First off is myt mate Graham's Somerset. This is perfect - a really honourable and respectful way to 'restore' a car. I love hearing stories like this - mags don't seem to do them any more. Get Graham on here and get him to tell us the full story with all the details. Keep up the excelleent work - keep spotting!

Love the style and thinking behind the Somerset. Pebble Beach has a lot to answer for!
