Hi there folks, I'm new to posting on here- but I've been a lurker (don't you hate the ones you cant get rid of?) for quite some time. I love this site- and despite me not owning any "official" retro metal, i come on here a lot so thought it was time i joined in A bit about me- well, I'm Dan, and i reside in lancs, and i enjoy playing in my garage. My car history is frankly shocking, I started off well and it went down from there I had a modified mk1 escort for my first car, then i got a couple of brand new rovers and I now have an old ish celica, and a Mk1 micra. nothing to stir the soul i hear you cry, but i love the celica for some reason and the micra is good daily fun! ;D In all honesty I hanker after another retro motor, harking back to my escort days, but the cash simply isnt avaliable- so i'm planning a few retro tweaks for my little micra just for fun My main retro loves are old j-tin, RWD fords and the odd old griff- chuvvits, HB vivas, magnums and the like- and i love anything thats different! One day I may get the guts to put a thread for each car in the gallery, but i think i'll have to wait till they deserve it Great site you have here all, Keep up the good work. Dan

Official Welcome! My car CV seens to go sideways but starting with a MK1 escy is is a bit of a drop in status, but all old stuff has potential round here. Micra is retro IMO and the Celica sounds asif it is too! get those RRRR thread done! if it gets more than 9 replies you beat me. Just asked in other thread, where you based? and PS theres a RR NW meet in a couple of months.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Welcome A K10 Micra is definitely retro! Go on, stick a Pulsar GTiR lump in there, you know you want to!* What model Celica is it you have? As everyone else said, pic would be good! *I can't get that thought out of my head recently!

ooof! hello everyone, thanks for the warm welcome! okey dokey, i'll see what i can do. will put a thread up for each car when i get round to it- i already have some pics uploaded i fink! PS me pretty curse word wi poncuters, so this may take some time! Seth> funny you should mention leadbetters...... i live a one minute walk away! not that often i go in there (as i mainly work on my cars after work and they're shut, so have to use halfrauds instead ) but theyve been a great help whenevr i've been in- he still sells things like bolts, washers, etc for like 3p each ;D very handy! reanimation> hi mate, i live near chorley mate, I seen the retro rides meet (is it the one on the 17th sept?) and i cant make it as i'm on my hols penski> hi mate, i spotted a few ppcers on here already ;D kinda feel at home! rmad> i really wouldnt worry, and old car aint safe to drive in. If something hits me hard enough to be crippled, i'd rater be dead.... carlb> hiya fella carl is my mate from the celica club- needless to say i'm very very jealous of his old celica, one day, one day.... benz> hi there, blimey- a GTi-R lump? that'd go well! infact there is a bloke on the micra forum who is currently shoehorning and SR20 DE (non turbo version of the GTi-R SR20 DET engine) into a K10 as we speak, thats gonna be scray quick in a straight line! My celica is just a cooking version really, a '93 GT- no turbo's or 4WD here. Had the old girl 4 years now tho Thanks again all for the kind welcome, i'm overwhealmed (spell check) !! PS feel free to take the wee wee any time, i like a good laugh and don't take anything to heart- so when the threads for my cars come up be honest- i can take criticism quite well, don't seem to cope with compliments though ;D reakon after my celica thread i'll prob get the title of "first chav on retro rides forum".........

Leadbetters were/are fantastic. I was at uni in Preston but living in Manchester and drove my Oxford up there for lectures. A headlight gave out on me once and I was told to try there so dropped in on my way home. They didn't take cards and I had minimal cash on me but he let me have it on trust that I'd drop the money in which I duly did next day. I'd never been treated like that before! Another time he sourced a new exhaust valve for me when one burnt out. I popped in to ask on my way up to uni and he had it in by the time I came home at about 4! Top service!

Absolutely mate, cant beat them- they're still good!
remember when the celica battery went- i nipped down, and he had me one there within the hour!
also checked prices the next time i was in halfords. the lucas one from leadbetters was £5 cheaper and came with a 4 year guarantee. cant knock it there!
