... of ever finding a glass set for an obscure old wagon? I spied this Mk1 Cortina Wagon on evilBay and it really appeals... Bosh on some Lotus steels, slam in the weeds and make good the underpinnings leaving that fab patina intact... But then am I gonna be entering into a world of pain searching fruitlessly at Newark & Beauliea for the rest of time on the offchance? Anyone experienced this kinda thing before?

I reckon you'll turn that up OK, Mk1 cortina wagons may be rare, but glass is long-lasting stuff. Get scanning the classifieds and you'll find it I think.
That car looks class by the way.

Surely the windscreen will be the same as other Mk1 'Tinas so should be easily available, and IIRC the side glass is all flat, so worse case scenario you could get new ones cut. Not sure about the tailgate glass though.
Have you asked on BSC?

Lotus steels are a bit thin on the ground unless your budget is high. What about Rostyles?
You could always get the glass made up, I expect it's not much more than original, but there's plenty of places hoarding the original stuff.

Those Woodies are mighty rare beasts...you don't find them every day (I know, another two will turn up on ebay now!). Lotus steels (or rather 'generic 5.5" wide Ford steels) are pricey for what they are (and compared to those tempting £4.00 original prices for them in old Custom Car ads!) but a set should still cost under £150 which ain't bad for a set of cool rims.

The cortina wagon went for £317 in the end. Not masses but more than I could realistically afford to punt on a mot-less car that's 100+ miles away and has no windows. But I've got the Slumber now to play with so not overly sad

shame, i have actually heard of companies like 'autoglass' are actually rather good at getting glass for older cars, may seem silly to try but if you don't you will never know! how is the humber coming? there were some alloys to fit humber/ford on the bay the other day...

I'm in the process of aquiring 'bits' for the Slumber....
Two sets of wheels to choose from now, then just gotta paint it, slam & re-apply the trim. Sounds easy.....
