I thought that V6 MX6 advert ended with "First Class Pr0n" - maybe the glovebox is full of filthy mags and videos.

Your Celica Idea is spot on the money for me, quite possibly the easiest car to get comfortable in ever, Fact. Height and reach adjustable steering coloum, loads of room in the footwell, comfy well adjustable seats, Aircon and the boot is absolutly huge for a car that size as well, especialy with the seats folded down. Good fuel econemy but will pull like a train to 130 on the Autobahn if required  . Check the exhaust manifold for cracks and have a good poke at the rad' as they go crusty at the bottom quite regulary ( I've got a free one your welcome to have should you chose to go this route) This is the path enlightened one, Don't go for an over priced over rated VW please. I work on them and they're no match for an old celica light years ahead in design, reliability and comfort. I'm getting prepared for the VW boys to come back at me now  |

What about this: Kia Magentis-    Very obscure so will make a great addition to the Bo11ox museum when it's reached it's retirement. Has more than a hint of late 80's early 90's J naffness about it to make it interesting.  I can definitely see these being future retro fodder - remember where you heard it 1st folks!!  Auctions should see early examples nearing your price range.... |

1989 Volvo 240 GLT Saloon, silver, Bilstein lowered on Virgo rims, full leather, tow bar and electrics, heavy duty battery with an LPG conversion... And twelve months MOT. Lovely. Also mine, but still lovely. Mind you I kind of get the impression that you're not a Volvo man Mr B, could be wrong... Seen here with exztra schnazzy 16x7.5in TSW rimmage. WOW.  |

Mr B, if you're after a 940, avoid the 2.0 SE Turbos - they were a tax break special, and the engine doesn't last as long as a 2.3 since it isn't up to lugging all that weight around. Also they do only 20mpg  , so for fuel economy, a normal 2.3 would probably be best. I don't know how much a late 945 is worth, but half decent 850s (*spit*) are available for £1k now.... Don't be put off by a 745 though - apparently they are less complex, and a friend recently bought a 300,000 miler for £100 - new wheels, tyres & light lenses off a knackered £100 945 SET and it went straight through the MOT. It's not perfect, but IMHO is in remarkable condition (good interior, no squeaks or rattles and virtually silent at 80), and doesn't feel like 300K at all! He bought it with the intention of it giving him a few months cheap motoring (he gets bored easily by modern cars), but he's so impressed by its toughness & reliability that he's going to keep it for towing his Reliant Sabre 6 race car. |

There's what seems to be a mega-top-spec Volvo on Auto Trader at the moment, a 1994 960 3.0 CD Auto Estate. £975 ono, with every toy you can think of, 182k miles though, and I bet it's thirsty. Still, the ultimate antique-hauler?

My favourite feature of the XG is the fact that it says 'H Y U N D A I' across the bootlid in big chrome letters. Perfect for showing the rabble that you've 'arrived'.
Love those chintzy stainless-steel looking wheels.
