It has been a busy few months, we purchased a house in January so the car took a back seat... Fast forward a couple months and I got the car out and about to a few breakfast meets at Haynes Motor Museum As we then approached Retro Fundraising kinda time of year the car had a few problems... three in fact... on the same day... within about 5 miles... Doing a quick tip run... couple smaller items and bang... Luckily the tip has a recycle shop, so I bought a reel of wire... bandaged it up for the trip home... two minutes later... At this point, I still don't really know what happened... it started again after a few minutes waiting... so off I go again, another minute and I hear something drop... followed by not being able to use the clutch... Managed to drive it home without a clutch... then as I pulled onto the drive I didn't keep the revs up enough and bam... it stopped, on the path as I headed onto the drive... pushed it on the drive with the help of a neighbour and left it there for a few days. A few days later me and Dad took the exhaust off, measured it up, made a pattern and created a temporary exhaust to get it to the Retro Fundraising show... but despite working in the baking for most of the day... it didn't work, the exhaust was rubbing the brake lines... so I called it a day, packed up and it hasn't been touched since... I will get to remaking the exhaust again soon... but for now it can wait!

I'll upload a picture when I've on the computer next, but got the car running today, it has been large left abandoned over the last year with lots of work on the new house.
Starts and runs okay but it has an issue with the master cylinder leaking... I'll top it up and get it back to the driveway anyway

Bookmarked, My mum had a minx series 3b if IIRC, as daily transport till I was 6 or 7. I always loved that car and was gutted when I came home from school to find an empty space. Some guy took it saying he was going to do it up and split the profit with her.
2 tone green with green "leather" interior that used to burn the backs of my legs in summer, she used to send it to the Alfa garage in Farnborough for servicing, the twangy noise the boot springs used to make when it was opened, ah the memories that have just come back to me. It was replaced by a very rare car, a 3 door mk1 Vauxhall estate auto.
The master cylinder should be an easy fix with a seal kit. Dan

Hi, do you know what the paint colour is called, assuming that it is a standard Hillman colour?

Since I haven't added any images for quite some time, I topped up the clutch master yesterday and got it back to the house. Not sure if you can see from the pictures but I have replaced the rear leaf springs so it sits a little better now, the springs were shot! Turns out the garage I had to keep it dry over the winter was damp... so the interior was mouldy. The garage will be going, the main reason I kept it in the garage is because the front windscreen seal is gone, but it would make more sense just to replace that! Glad to have it back on the driveway now, albeit covered in a thin layer of cob webs, it needs a good polish but since it hasn't really been anywhere for almost year I will give it a full once over before I take it out anywhere. I have the seal kit now for the clutch master cylinder so will give it a go, we did it once before (I think) the first time around

Washed the Hillman and the daily this evening, it had gone so dull, so a bit of T-cut will bring it up

Looks like Nankang tyres, they are asymmetrical, the sidewalls will be marked Outside & Inside, is the one nearest camera on the correct way around?

Turns out the tyre was on the wrong way! Good spot!
Exhaust fitted, it leaks a bit but that was without any exhaust paste, so I'll take a closer look at that
Next problem is the car is overheating... I've not checked the plugs yet but may be a fuel mixture issue as I think a lean mix will cause the exhaust to get extremely hot too... Which it did

We need the full story, oops it was a mk1 3 door Astra estate, in a light ish blue, that got written off, when a plank in a red mk4 Cortina came round a bend way to fast, mum said "I don't think hes going to make that corner and promptly stuffed his car in to ours, the newest car our family had ever owned. which was replaced by an orengy brown 5 door with "carrot puke seats"PJB901X iirc.

A few more bits started today, the washer needed a one way valve and I've found the issue with the side lights... A faulty switch, I'll swap that out and replace the washer pipes whilst

After waiting a couple of weeks for delivery the new windscreen seal has arrived, the screen is in good shape and the surround seems sound
Now do I change the seal or pay someone to do it... rough quotes I have range from about £120 to £300
What would you do? I have done mini screens before, but I knew if it broke I could easily get another... I have seen one for sale for not a lot of money but would involve a 4 hour round-trip

for £40-£50 i would let someone else sweat the thought of sourcing a replacement should it let go.... any more than that and the bottle of brave pills would be popped open!!
