Do you reckon some pinstriping would look good on the bonnet of the Rocco? I'm halfway through designing one which incorporates the maltese cross and the 'VW' logo, but I'm not sure if it would look right or not.....? Get on with posting some pics for inspiration.....

I'd do it. You can always wipe it off again! I'll sort out a new image host and whack some up.

Didn't someone post up pics of some wheels which combined those designs? Can't remember exactly what they looked like, but they were very cool!

No I've not got a kit - thought I might just use a modelling brush and some modelling enamel!

Here's my first attempt - the 'VW' logo and the outline to the cross will be in red:

It's going to be worth buying a swordliner at least, they hold lots of paint and because of the long bristles, you can acheive sweeter longer curves than with a short haired brush. Model enamel would be OK to use though. www.pinstripinguk.com has all the kit and they're nice people. I'll be buying a few new brushes soon as the one in the kit I got from them is not the best, but a good start. If you use a stabilo pencil to mark out your design on the bonnet, that helps loads as you can rub it out to correct hiccups before slapping paint on.

definitely a vote for "PUK". Like the design BTW. Definitely don't do it with model paint and brush, just doesn't pull right. OK, you might be able to reduce model paint down , but by the time you're done messing you might as well buy the right stuff.

How much would it cost to get it done by someone 'in the know'?

irocco in da house: Get on with posting some pics for inspiration.....
The pinstriping look is real cool but IMHO the Iron Cross has been done to pieces lately, it's on everything from pushbikes, the VAG scene is overloaded and it looks like the Hot Rod & Kustom scene has come to it's sences since it's slowing down there, I guess the "Good O'l Boys" have seen just about enough of it by now. Go out an get some "swords" and start pinstriping, it's not that hard and if you have an eye for it it will show in 2 to 3 hours of practice, if you don't get the feel for it give it up and let a pro do it since bad pinstriping looks real pathetic...
I just got a hood for The Shop Hack that will be turned into the mother of all hoods, I will not tell more untill it's done and fitted but look out it will be HOT!!!!
DP says: A bunch of fun can be had with textures and rattle cans, belive me.....

This is a personal opinion, but I really don't rate some of the 'new' stripers on the scene, I've seen their work and its very assymetrical. John the Crazy Painter did the striping on my mates Pontiac, his work is pretty amazing and he's reasonable to boot. Lemme know if you want his number!

Oh, and seconded about chosing a pinstriper carefully. Weirdo-Watts (if he's in the country?), Melissa Gee or Neil @ Prosign are the three who come to mind as work I've really gone nuts over.

Tootal from Cornwall is pretty awesome too,i think he's currently in the states hanging with herb Martinez. Spoke to him the other day and he reckons the yanks are going crazy about u.k striper's as they see them as Renascence men as we have only about 20 yrs of history in the UK and our style is quite different
