Had a nice long day in the garage today and managed to achieve next to nothing. Actually made/fixed quite a lot of stuff but alas nothing for the car, just stuff for my mum.
However I did take the grinder to the rusted bolts on the flipfront and I've got it stripped bare now. First job was sand off the razor sharp edges so I don't gash myself open. I managed to wash out the rest of the mud and cut along the cracks ready to be re-glassed. So basically the decision is made: tomorrow I will be fitting the front. Whether it takes all day and into Monday it shall be done, I will have a hinging and working flipfront if it kills me. The car is choking for it to be fitted and I need the boost of seeing a whole car again.
Did you see what I did there? I got gash and choking for it in the same message. Tee hee...
Anyway, what we all got planned for the garage tomorrow then?

Just to remind you this is the sort of state the flipfront is in. Rough. And it's covered in cracks, splits, lifted gellcoat and holes:

Today I built a Quickrack for the Kadett, a new Rack and pinion into a spare Chevette Rack I then went over to see "ImreallygettingBackIntoThisPolishingLarkMe" to see progress on the Nutter Van and to bleed the brakes/change fluid on the Kadett. Then at 9.30pm while the front was up in the air and the wheels were off (and it was rapidly getting Dark ) I decided to fit the new Rack as you do ....... Hour and a half later and some very quiet Swearing to spare Daves Neighbours, it was on....... ;D I now have a steering wheel nearly upside down, tracking like a shopping trolley, oh and heavier steering too But apart from that its great .........2.4 turns lock to lock ;D Still needs setting up properly and a new shim or too making to fine tune the feel but its on ready for the Autotest on Wednesday ;D

Adding to the ghetoness of the viva by starting on the rust spots on the rear quarter. Might start the strip down of the zetec as well. The cams look awfully shoddy.
Damnit.

finished removing aircon off of supra, tried to find source of water leak...still no luck, so just flushed rad and stuff and wanged it back in:(
then missed the midlands mini meet because i waited for ages for a guy to show up to buy some parts off of me, who then didnt because of a technicality...typical.
oh yeh also did a big cock up, me and my mate were making a strutbrace for the rear of my car, and took it off to where his dad works (arrows precision) to use the pressed and various tools.. then got back and found it didnt fit.
ever heard the phrase. measure twice cut once?
well try this one, measure twice remeber the right sodding measurement and then cut once.
