www.czechwrecks.com/index.espMe and my mate had our entry confirmed today ;D I know some peeps off here have done this kind of thing before, any advice for keeping an old retro-banger running across Europe? We haven't bought anything yet... Got a few leads to follow soon though...

NO! ;D Not sure yet... Volvo or Sierra or something... Not too old to be a liability, big enough for one to sleep in the back of while the other drives, and be reasonably economical... And easy to get parts for if needed on the way

;D It'd be so cool - I think you should build one anyway

how about a Favorit estate?
cheap to buy and plenty of room inside for sleeping.
Reliable and economical as well

Crazy Octopus 'Homage' Volvo Wagon.... DO IT HARD! Volvo 740 FTW!!! Saloons are much cheaper than estates though. IMHO a 2.3 5 speed or 4 speed + o/d would be your best bet.

Heh, you'll find millions of witnesses to sign something to say they wouldn't pay £101 for a Sierra. ;D
Passat wagons seem to be cheap ATM too....

:)You're quite welcome to use my Favorit for free, only thing is it needs an alternator and I would like it not to be scrapped when you're done...ie please bring it back!!

Ahhh... there's no way we can bring it back, or I'd take the £20 Corsa I have! Thanks, though

there's plenty of luxo-barges on fleabay for double-digit prices.... saw a Safrane go for £60, taxed and tested and half a tank of fuel! or an old Carlton wagon if sleeping space is a priority.... fairly sure there's a cheap-ass Sierra Ghia 4x4 wagon too on a local forecourt if you want it checking out?

Never trust a man Who names himself Trevor. Or one day you might find He's not a real drug dealer.

I'll be in touch Pillock... Think we have a source of suitable motors here but we need to check it out first!

OK, get youself a Favvy Estate from a Skoda dealer that has been traded against a Fabia. Do the old Clarkson for £1 because it is cheaper than auctioning.
And the plus point of a Skoda is, as you get closer to CZ, the parts availability gets better.

Lada Riva Estate. May not get you anywhere fast, but they're cheap as chips and will run forever and a day!
