Had this a while now and thought i'd start a thread about it now it's finaly getting to where i want it, just waiting on the rarer parts like front nudgebar' As i bought it off ebay for £350 as a running but not very well TD Turned out the engine was a mondeo TD engine with a non turbo pump Hoiked it out and gave the bay a clean with the trusty truckwash after a trip to ovalchat got me a decent TD and 5 speed from a saph for £150 Plopped that in with a new belt kit and it flew through the MOT , i fitted the rear 8 spokes only cos the front wont fit without a lift Put it oo work straight away to earn some of the outlay back ;D

Having a dig through the curse word I call my stiores I found some spot lamp guards That left the back lights looking rather un guarded, so from the frag pile I found some old window grills I chopped up Add an iron bar and a hammer I got to this stage Some hammerite dregs from the botttom of a can in the bin ;D some bodgey looking screws and washers and well I like it anyway and as the wife usues it for gardening and is allways backing into bushes and the like it'll do rear finished appart from paint on the tailgate and maybe some chequer plate to straighten the tailgate ??

Nice buy mate, I have a P100 myself about 5 years now...I keep it regulary serviced and its never once let me down in the 85,000 miles I've put on it since I bought it (had 150,000 when I got it) despite towing trailers and having the bed full of car parts and stuff almost constantly.

And that pretty mutch brings me up to today, the top comes off in 10 mins for when i run a load of frag in and i use the torneo cover and makes the wifes life easy for carrying tools and taking away grass cuttings and chopped off limbs of trees ect I still need to lift the front so the front 8 spokes will go on and the front needs "purposing up" it sort of looks a bit gey compared to the rear ? nudge bar ir maybe some simple push bars ALA US police cars ?? thoughts ? Next up after finishing the body will be swap back to an efi pinto due to the LEZ regs coming in in january i'll do a straight swap, pinto out me cortina and into the truck and turbo diesel the cortina, that'll meen an LPG kit to keep the econonmy (i get 45 ish from the truck but only 32 wiith the pinto). Shame really as i had some tarty bits to go in the truck but they'll just have to go in the cortina, like this powder coated rocker cover and the nice one off front cover i got from an engine i bought with them on ;D somone took a lot of time to build this cover shame i dented it the other week but it'll beat back into shape (i hope) , more updates when they happen ?

They are tough aint they, not gonna light up the tarmac with the old tech TD but it goes OK up to 60 then sounds like your thrashing the tits off it after that I've got a FMIC and some piping along with some extra fueling tricks but they will have to wait to go on in the cortina, i'll have enough power with the pinto EFI I recon when it goes in, it's running an FR30 cam and ashley manifold (bowt 120 bhp and lots of torque) so I may need a diff ratio change at a later date but that's hard to do without swapping the axle and then I need new wheels doing it that way, and a front hub swap to match ??

Nice, it carries the nato paint well, there's always a risk it'll look naff, but it works on this one.

First Time I've seen pics of the P100. Looks great.
I've read all your diesel swap info on BSC, it interests me greatly. I'd love a tweaked TD powered Mk5 Estate as a Daily.......Maybe once the Current Cortina is nearer to completion.

I never did finish the Mk3, had to sell it to pay bills over the winter The Mk5 i will have to finish cos i need a new daily as me lucida is fast wearing out ;D and TBH at 22 MPG round town it's too bloody expensive to run

That looks awesome. I reckon raise the rear more, get the wellers banded with some big general grabbers sticking out of the arches. UK mad max style lol.

looks dodgy as f*ck but i like it. shame about having to switch away from the diesel. Also what was the previous owner trying to do fitting a non turbo pump to a td engine?

I think he just threw it together with parts he had, it was a petrol origionly so i guess he got bits together fron differant places and cocked up ? I tried the front wheels today They hit the adapter nuts (from granny 5 stud to transit ) as well so don't sit flat against the hub Oh and they stick out a bit ;D so i don't think i'll be using spacers to clear those adapter nuts i might try a narrower tyre, these are 195s i have some 175s but i don't think it'll sove the problem No way am i going for the stretched look so no suggesting it ;D

Looking double-hard! I do like these old things. Might have to convert mine to petrol too, thanks to the pesky Low Emission Zone. (Thanks a bunch, TfL...) Does your fuel gauge work?!

There's nothing like the constant fear of running out of fuel (especially in a diesel!) to focus the mind on those long journeys, is there?!
