Sorry for another solid gold racer 86 rubbish thread but........... i cant insure the KP with Adrian Flux (who i have my insurace with) on a temporary basis as they are Cocks and give me a different storey everytime i ring up, ranging from "we cant insure it because you want to take it to a show" to "we cant insure it because its worth more than your 106" - utter wanksticks! So i need cover to get me to cars and id preferably like it for a month or even better until the 2nd of August when i can renew my insurance with 12months no claims and change to a classic policy (and fook off Adrian Flux). Sorry for a boring thread and thanks in advance for any help. PS Kp just needs gearbox oil and the bonnet on then its on the road!!!!111!!11!11!1one

Is www.dayinsure.com any good to you? I know you were having to stick with the standard engine, & thus it may not count as 'modified' (which they don't like much).....

I just got limited miles cover with roadsure as a second car with no no-claims on this one, for a decent price. not temporary but i'll soon zap 3000 miles in this poc-roc!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

You could try Footman James. Most classic policies don't count no-claims anyway as far as I know Why not try getting some quotes for the whole year now anyway? It's bee 3/4 hour since you started this thread so I hope there's oil in the gearbox and a bonnet fitted by now...

Yep looks stock to me, just like my mini has a 998 and a stage one kit but seriously if your planning to get a classic policy you will loose your no claims anyway so you may be better off just starting a classic policy now and then getting a normal insurance policy on the 02/08/06 to cover another motor and use you no claims on that!. You have 2 cars right?

I think its all luck of the draw with insurance companies. I've been with Privilege for 2 years (and I'm not even posh) but when I got the Cortina last week and they found out it had been lowered and I'm under 25, they didn't want to know!
A quick call round for a few quotes (some of the people I spoke to couldn't find "Cortina" on their databases! - computer says no, or something) and then I called Flux and they were like "yeah, Cortina, suspension lowered, no problem. Is that it?" And they were cheap to boot!
Sorry, I've not really answered your question, have I?!

Only going on what I've heard/read, but a lot of people have had big problems with Flux at claim-time. I think they were cheapest for me too, but I just paid a bit more and went with Lancaster who seem to be ok. Random thing though, racer86, my insurance renewal date is 2/8/06 too! Oh, and PS: how about sticking it on eBay with an instant snipe? A weeks insurance for the price of some end fees. ;D

Norwich Union charge 10.50 for a full days cover. You can get up to 28 days cover. But you have to be an old curse word (over 25) to get it.
*can't wait to get to old curse word status*

So am i, only because their price was the only affordable one tho. Me being 19 i had trouble finding anyone to match £880 for a highly modified mini at an agreed value of 8k! i think they made a mistake somehow. At least i don't have to send them some photos till after CARS :

When i insured my chevette after the rebuild they were the only company to take me seriously, understand the mods and gave me the best price. Since then they have been wibblepoo at best. When i changed the insurance to the skoda my premium didnt fall - so a stock skoda estelle cost the same to insure as a fully prepped Chevette - mmm me thinks they are robbing gits. Everytime you change something (car, mod whatever) they charge £25 which after the car changing year i have has added over a ton to my premium. The when i changed to the pug it went up again so i had to pay £140 top up!
I certainly wont be re-newing my policy with them.

I've been forced to go with AF this year, despite how much I despise them. 600 quid all in with the mods and full European and UK breakdown. Not half bad and I still accumulate NCB. According to a telesales bloke I was talking too from another company, they're really working on improving at the moment and have changed their tune a lot Was reflected in some ways, they'd previously quoted me 900 quid with a hideous excess.

Any more details? I'm insured with Flux at the moment.... Err....I probably should have found proof before I mentioned that. I've looked and all I can find is people saying "They were rubbish when I had to claim" or "So-and-so had a terrible time claiming" which IMO isn't good enough proof to post here. Other Adrian Flux problems here and here.
