Well this weekend it was the national Best Kept Volvo show in Rutland. So seeing as I was a VOC member, thought I'd attend. Some seriously nice cars there, although polishing every single component isnt my kind of thing - greatest respect to the people who had, as the cars were generally stunning. The (usually) overlooked 300 series category somehow managed to get 13 entries (biggest class of the show), there were only 4 last year! A friend of mine on 300 mania installed a K cam on Saturday night into his 360GLEi (now fitted with megasquirt) and after a couple of runs along with a 360 twin carb, it's very nearly almost as quick... and that was dyno'd at 140bhp! Anyway, here's a load of pics if any of you are interested spainter.110mb.com/bkv_more/

All of the people that I spoke to were friendly enough, though I gather there is a certain amount of rivalry between members. Particularly as theres now rather a lot of younger owners getting into Volvo ownership.

Bump! I was there A few of the 'beardies' are a bit hostile, but 99% of the crowd are very friendly, and pleased to see young members joining the club and attending events. Robin...is your 480 the red one with a few 'tweaks' I've seen rolling around Torbay over the last year? You might have seen (or more to the point heard) my silver 360...although it hasn't been down there since January. cheers James

Steve P, great pics, and the rat Amazon looks superb!!! Unfortunately I wasn't able to make it Will try next year though, when I intend to inflict my Amazon on the BKV - to clean it or not to clean it, that is the question!!! ;D A few of the 'beardies' are a bit hostile, but 99% of the crowd are very friendly, and pleased to see young members joining the club and attending events. In what way were the 'beardies' hostile? I've only been to a VOC event once (about 2 years ago) and aside from being told something about the manifold set-up on my car being typical of a particular Amazon specialist (despite that being as it was long before the car went anywhere near that specialist....), it was a nice day out
