hiya.... just after a bit of guidance on this one!
bought an entire lockset for my GTE from a guy on migweb forum. £25 posted which is a bit of a bargain. Cheque was cashed 25th May, at which point he stopped replying to PM's on the forum and has ignored the polite request for info i've left on his for sale thread.
just phoned him after digging around a bit on the forum and finding his shoddy 'spares' website and he's all "yeah mate, posted it two days ago first class mate, mate, mate" but didn't get a reciept, or send it special delivery. now obviously it's a largeish parcel so i'm gonna wait a bit longer but if it's a no-show, is there any way i can get my money back? or have i just learned a lesson?
annoyingly there's an entire steering column, lock, barrel, and set of door/boot locks popped up on ebay for not much more if i collect them from the midlands.

Small claims court if you can be bothered. Process is easy peasy and the forms landing in his letterbox would normally do the trick.
Other than that it's a "learning experience"

is it not up to me to prove he's not sent it though! it might well be that it's genuinely gone astray but it was just something about his manner.....

Ask on migweb if he's scammed other people. Could just be that he forgot to send it until you chased him up or something. We've all done that I'm sure. Give it a couple of days. Then cancel the cheque or whatever

Other than that it's a "learning experience" I would like to apologise for my previous lame suggestion. I obviously failed to fully appreciate the magnetude of this guys repellant actions. Should other methods fail I now recommend spending around 5 years researching this guys geneological record. Once completed a simple fuel/air bomb will remove most of his home town from the fqace of the earth. This "should" do for both him and around 50% of his closer relatives. This is where the research will pay dividends as you will be able to identify and hunt down any remaining relatives and off them yourself, or, should you prove to be a nancy squeamish type, pay a reputable international hit man, Mr Bo11ox for example, to completeley erase the fuggers genetic lineage from the planet. It will be like he and his entire family never existed. Hope this helps

The mods on Migweb should have is computer IP address logged which will lead to his address if you need it. I'm sure they won't hold it back if he's been scamming and you need to do a bit of recovery. I doubt he's been using an internet cafe all this time.

Have you checked your local sorting office? I sent a part to someone a while back, he never received it. I held fire for 2 weeks before refunding his money. Another 2 weeks later, the parcel was delivered back to me! Aparently the guy I sent it to didn't call into the sorting office for it! It seems we have to help the posties out these days by collecting from them ;D Worth a shot

Indeed, but quite often stuff is left at the sorting / collection office when no attempted delivery card has been left. I had this with a part I bought on ebay a while ago. No attempted delivery card, & only when the seller chased the post office about it, did it get sent back to him (imo it had been at his local sorting office all along - it was an awkward shape). The second time he tried to send it, the post office returned it almost immediately, telling him that I'd refused delivery (completely untrue), & it only arrived on the 3rd attempt.

MIGWEB Good luck anyway hmmmm.... i'll give him exactly one week from when he said he's posted it as no postage rate should be longer than that inland. problem is he didn't directly advertise it, i posted a reply to a general 'breaking a GTE, what do you need?' thread of someone else's and he PM'ed me with the offer. we'll see. it's getting to the point where it's the only part i need for the car though!
