Hi everyone let me introduce my little polo. I got it in August last year after I had a slight crash in my first car, A Mk1 polo . I needed a car fast and this came up locally, and pretty cheap. Ill try and give you a lowdown on what ive done. When I picked it up it looked like this: As you can see, someone had a go before. The car looked ok when I got it,but the engine bay in paticular was filthy, so I gave it a bit of a clean. This was the result: Quite good for 114k. Next I scraped off all that black tint spray from the headlights, as I could hardly see when driving at night. It looked alot better too. I then moved on to audio. Replacing these, (no wonder the stereo sounded curse word ): With these: The rear badges were looking tatty, so I took them off and sprayed them with some glitter paint I had lying around: At the same time as the badges I sprayed the door handle inserts in same paint.

The tailights were very tatty, cracked and had been treated to the worst spray tint ever. They were binned, and some mint ones were fitted and i sprayed the indicator and reverse bits red. Which looked like this: The lights really tidied up the rear aspect, and the spray tint was a great job, if i say so myself ;D Sticking with lighting i got hold of some clear front indys and repeaters to replace the horrid sprayed black ones: You may have noticed a couple of stickers also made an appearance. GT bumper stripes, looking sharp Sticker bombed the fuel flap: And i couldnt resist this when i saw it The car was like this for a few months but more mods were on their way. I couldnt leave it alone.

So, to bring you bang up to date. Heres what ive been up to in the last few months: I went down the scrappy, and saw the sad site of a MK2 Square and 3 MK3 Coupes . I managed to pick up some of these, Result!: I decided that some rear speaker replacement was in order, as i finally bothered to fit these i had since christmas (holes were there already): Up until recently the car was looking like this, Quite good, well i think so anyway: But then this happened..... Supersport shocks and springs 60mm down, and powerflex bushes in outer and inner TCA, and anti roll bar. Came from venom and the kit took ages. But i think youll agree, it was worth the wait, and looks so much better . Handles nice too, and apart from being a little bouncy, actually rides better than when standard! Shows how buggered all my standard stuff was As you can see from the pics the wheels also changed. They were 14" Golf Mk2 steels. Now they are the 13" Lupo steels i had on my MK1, which were bargainous, at £15 with 4 nearly new tyres .

I have been wanting a different look to the front of the car, namely the grille. But i don't really like the debadged ones. They always look like something is missing (I would have had a votex one with extra lights, but i payed for it and it never came ) So i have this: Admittedly i didnt make it, but i did tidy it up and spray it. I also got hold of some side carpets to tidy up the boot: For a short while i have had a spare boot plinth hanging around, so i have smoothed off all the texture, and i primered it and colour coded it: in primer: Painted and fitted: Not a bad finish, for aerosol cans, outside. Getting closer to where its currently at now. Audioscape door pods: Got them a couple of weeks ago, just need to save for some speakers now. Last weekend: Went a little OCD cleaning the engine bay and underside of the bonnet: Genuine VAG fuel tank to replace curse word aftermarket one. Picked it up tuesday night: Now we are up to date. Watch this space tho. Updates on the way soon.

Good stuff, any plans to hit it with a lowering stick? Its already been beaten to death. Look at the differnce between the first pics and last. Its down 60mm. And if I'm honest, being a daily thats plenty low enough! Exhaust scrapes alot.

'Agree with the above, it's plenty low enough for a daily driver. I really like the look of this and the way you are modding it. Nice simple mods are often the most effective ones. Nice and clean under the bonnet too. You're right about those spray tinted lights looking errr... well not good! Way better now. Keep up the good work mate.

Just got me self some retro alloys. They are 13" Amil alloy wheels. Theres alot or refurbing to be done before they go on tho. Heres a pic of one: Let the polishing begin. Heres a curse word photoshop of the current look I'm aiming for, but its subject to change: The silvery looking bits will be polished.

Looks really good that. Have to say I preferred the 14 inch rims, but for 15 quid you can't go wrong. I have a hankering for a Polo now

The 14s were ok, but they would have rubbed on the rear arches alot. I'm pretty good at findin bargains like those £15 wheels. They werent my best find tho, that title goes too my desmo roof rack, which cost an entire fiver ;D.

Auto Glym engine cleaner sprayed on. Then brush it with a stiff brush (tooth brush for the small bits and corners). and leave a few minutes. Then pour a watering can of water over it. Then wipe of any remaing dirt with a damp rag. I also use a plant trigger spray bottle on the jet setting (a water pistol would be better) to blast away more stubborn dirt and stuff in corners where the brushes wont reach . Most of all its elbow grease. I spent nearly a day on mine, and i havent finished .

Fitted the CAT yesterday with the help of a mate. (Or rather he fitted it with my help) Took it for re- MOT today and it sailed through with no advisories. Oh and here is pics of my Desmo roof rack. Which as mentioned in an earlier post cost me £5. don't have any pics of it on the coupe, my old MK1 is modelling it, i wish it was still on the road:

Roof rack WHY? It's a nice looking car, just 'cause it's a VW don't mean you need to fit a roof rack. Your car, your choice but I think it'll spoil it.

I havent put the rack on the coupe and i probablly wont. The coupe isnt old skool enough for the rack. I'm savin it for when either my MK1 is back on the road, or i get a MK2. Really it was an excuse to sneak in some MK1 pics Youve got to admit tho, the rack was a bargain.

Gotta love those wheels! Personally I think the purple will ruin it though, how about red to match the bumper strips on the car?
