So today I rebuilt the rear drums (including wheel cylinder seals), blew all the lines out, rebuilt the master cylinder and removed the servo.
This has all resulted in an excellent pedal feel, nice and progressive, and I can lock the wheels if I want to. I think this in itself is proof enough that I'm okay without the servo!
Thanks for all the input.

Both the Humber and the Hillman appear to use the same 3/4" master cylinder.
Would this not mean that the system could be used as-is without the servo?

Whoops, looks like the Super Minx had un-assisted discs on the front, same as the Sceptre just no Servo.
Looks like it should work nicely!

I know the Super Minx and Vogue didn't have servo's, but I believe they had drums on the front.
Tomorrow I'm going to bypass the servo and see how it is, should be simple and easily reversible if I don't like it.
Thanks for the help.

Hi,
I've recently bought a Humber Sceptre and I am preparing it for an MOT. It's not far off but the brake pedal sticks down with the engine running (servo related I assume?).
I've heard bad things about these Servos, as apparently the main seal can deteriorate and all braking is lost.
I'm used to driving cars without servo's and to be honest I prefer the pedal feel. If I wanted to remove be servo would it be as simple as plumbing the Master Cylinder straight to the T piece (that splits the braking off to each corner), or would I have to upgrade the master cylinder?
Thanks

I'm after a set of seats for a Mk2 Polo, not too fussed on having the 'sporty' bolstered ones.
Close to Essex or Plymouth would be great.
Thanks

Hi, I'm after a set of Appliance 4-spoke chrome wheels, similar looking to the 4 spoke Cragar SS wheels.
4x108 would be be ideal but I'll consider anything.
Thanks
Edit; now also interested in 14" slotmags.
Thanks

Hi,
I've got a Humber Sceptre that I'd like to put a set of Cragars on. I can make adaptors no problem, but it all depends on what the PDC of the Cragars is.
Obviously they're uni-lug, so I'm wondering if anyone knows the Minimum and Maximum PCD of the slotted holes?
It's tricky to make a 4-stud to 5-stud adaptors but it might be possible depending on the Crager PCD's.
Cheers

As above, I'm after a Mk2 Consul in pretty much any condition. Anything considered.
I switch between Essex and Plymouth, and I'm willing to travel.
Thanks

So my mk2 polo had its original tape deck/headunit, and you can imagine my sheer, utter dissapointment when I tried to test it with a freinds 'Kiss from a Rose-Seal' tape with little success.
We tried a few different tapes and they all play really, really slow. The rewind and fast forwards functions work no problem.
The headunit it Panasonic with some home speakers wired up by the previous owner. Is it possible the the speakers are drawing too much power? An aux cable/cassette converter works no problem.
Thanks

I'm guessing that's used to draw oil up through the pump?

So today I gonally fired up the Bentley I've been working on, it's a 1956 S1 (straight 6).
Sounded lovely, ticked over perfectly but no oil pressure! The engine was perfect before the car was left standing since 2001.
I'm thinking maybe the pump had drained and needs to be primed? I was going to pump some oil into the hole for where the pressure sender goes.
Any other ideas?
Thanks
