Edited my original answer. After reading info on W116 and W126 it looks like the springs are the same, The difference between the two is lower arm's and thicker spring bushes, I hope the info I have read is correct but happy to be proved wrong, The spring compressor you need will be the W116 one 116589063113

Many moon's ago I used to collect cars from a Jag service centre in Surrey, Either for windscreen work or tinting, I always used to check the work diary to see if it was an R, Then I would make sure my work mate drove his van, on arrival at the service centre I would leap from the van and go grab the keys, The R's went rather well up dual carriageway on the way back to the workshop! Jolly good fun !
I don't know what your heated windscreen problem is but is the front screen actually a heated one? When these Jags fall into second hand ownership sometimes they don't have heated screens reffitted due to the cost, The stone the a bird dropped onto your screen would if deep enough (unlikely) damage one or two heated elements (lines) at most, Top and bottom of the screen has buzz bar's in the laminate, The top one is mostly hidden but remove the scuttle panel and clean the mud away and you can see the silver buzz bar at the very bottom edge, In between the two buzz bar's are very fine lines ( wiggly wire's) Easiest way to tell is place a piece of paper on the inside of the screen and look from the outside, the lines should be easy to see, Also worth bearing in mind is that the buzz bar at the bottom is the first to get water damage as it sits in trim and that holds moisture which damages the laminate and then corrodes the Buzz bar which then stops the lines working, Although you would normally have some of the lines working, Bottom corners of the screen is where you can find the wire's that power it, these can also corrode where they enter the endge of the screen,
Headlining needs to be removed through the front screen as the rear is to small and will damage the new one,
Maybe if you find the screen is knackered you could combine the two jobs together?
Oh by the way your Jag is a thing of beauty!

I used to fit glass for the metropolitan police, The rear was probably replaced in service as you say then etched to match the rest of the car etchings, the question is was the rear window fitted with original type of bond ? From the factory they were fitted with hot sticky kit, A coil of black tacky stuff with a copper wire running through the middle, Connect copper wire's to a transformer to warm up so malleable fit to body then place glass on top, Reconnect the transformer to the copper wire's and go have a cup of tea while it all heats up, Once tea has been drunk return to the car where you should find it gently smoking ! Push down on the glass till the correct hight is gained, All very scientific lol, Remove equipment job done, The problem with this system is that once it cools down the bond becomes hard again and the motion of the tailgate opening and closing plus weather temps ment that the rear window would become un bonded and sometimes leave said vehicle while travelling down the road! So do remember seeing a copper wire in the bond? Or had it been fitted with urethane?
Fantastic work by the way !

Simply put you can't tint front door glasses on vehicles in the UK, If you or anyone else does then you will be breaking the law, Vehicle modified and unfit for the road, Mot testers are meant to fail all cars with front door glasses with after market tinted film, And insurance companies take a dim view of front tinted windows and will cancel yours or anyone else's insurance cover, In my last post I only wanted to inform you and anyone else who read it of the pitfalls of front tinted windows, This is the technical bit after all, I have tinted windows on cars, trains, trams and busses for over 20 year's, i have seen and heard it all, If you've taken offence that was not my intention, I have taken my time to read through my last post and can't find anything that was directly aimed at you, So to conclude your car is already at the legal limit, Any specific light mirrored film will take you or anyone else over the legal limit, thus leaving you or anyone else foul of the law, Mirrored and metalised film has the most reflective properties of any tint film, This is information and not any kind of accusation to you vulgalour, If you feel your civil liberties have been affected the please contact someone who gives a curse word and might pass you a tissue 😁

Your car has green tinted glass, it will already be at the legal limit of around 75% as per construction and use,
Any tint even a clear film say safety film can take you over the legal limit ,
It's your choice and your licence,
Also worth bearing in mind that the police can be unimpressed with tinted windows
If involved in a accident your insurance are likely to cancel your cover leaving you liable for any costs relating to the incident,
And yes I've understand that you have seen loads of cars with front door glasses tinted, but as above says its your car, license and life 😊

Question What grade engine oil should I use for my 1.4 Tu3m 75 bhp engine? Owners manual says 15/40 but the motor factors are coming up with 5/40 ? Bearing in mind that the engine is 25 year's old and has 80'000 miles on it, Any ideas people?

Looks great outside, you can get a real feel for it and seeing in a back alley like that seems like the perfect environment for it. I couldn't resist giving the photo a little period filter... That look authentic 😉

Ford Escort 1.8 130 bhp Zetec engine, loom and ecu the engine came from a M reg escort Si that i bought back last year, the car came with no keys as they had been lost, so before the engine was removed i bypassed the Ford PATS system so that i could ascertain the condition of the engine before i removed it for fitment to my escort Van project, ran with no issues other than cheesing off the neighbours with the noise, the ECU's name is Aqua and is a 130 bhp spec ECU, the Loom is the complete loom from the car from front to back, the inlet manifold is not included in the sale as its now on my escort XR3i, in the pictures below its still all connected to the gearbox and subframe but is just the engine, Loom and ECU thats for sale, the engine will need to be collected from Ashford in Middlesex or if you prefer to arrange your own courier i can get it on to a pallet, please private message me if you are intrested cheers Alan
