Been following this thread for a while in awe of all the little fixes and improvements you have made. Seeing the car out in the wild is fantastic. When I was a kid I used to love these big old 50s American sedans with all the chrome after my uncle brought back some pull back toys for me after going to summer camp over there.
In my eyes this is ultimate cool and has just the right level of patina and attitude. Love it!

Fantastic thread, as a Chatham local this is a great piece of history! I live about 1/2 mile away from weedswood, funny to think it may have trundled past my house! Interesting info about the engineering and background of Chatham Traction, thanks for posting

What a cool twist to this thread! It looks great in the Hawkins police colour scheme!
Stranger Things is great, think The Goonies written by Stephen King and that's what you'd end up with. Loads of 80s references. We loved it.

Fantastic to see this car still alive and kicking and going from strength to strength, not been on ClubGTI for years since all the forum politics nonsense went on so not kept up with the development of the car. Great work with the repair to the manifold and new turbo!

I bought mine to fill up with family and luggage, point at a holiday destination several hundred miles away and arrive feeling as fresh as when I left. Does what it says in the tin. Have to say I have had to set the speed limit alert for 90 mph as after driving other cars I would find myself cruising at license losing speeds without realising

Certain models are starting to go up in price, m5, the alpines, very clean 540i’s and 530i’s. They are fantastic cars if you get a good one, shame they rot in certain places. Easy to work on though and parts easy to find. Been running a 530i sport for the last 3 years and apart from a couple of little oil leaks it’s been totally reliable.

Been in the same situation myself, having to give up a car that I’ve had for years, rebuilt everything on it etc. At the time I was really cut up about it. But it went to a good home and to be honest it was a relief when it went not having the problem any more. Don’t even think about it now. It had lots of memories attached to it, holidays, brought my son home from hospital etc but it’s just a car at the end of the day. I can always buy another one. Or something better in the future.
Maybe not a popular opinion on a car forum but I speak from experience.

Our son has been poorly the last couple of days so mrs lufbramatt picked him up a couple new cars to cheers him up. She found these lovely majorette models- a viper and a Mercedes AMG. Opening doors and nice detailed interiors. A nice step up in quality without paying Minichamps prices :-) Shame the colour schemes aren't more realistic but never mind!

I've got a parweld 936 which has been spot on, just over budget but can't fault it. Wouldn't go too cheap, only got one set of eyes.

Yes we expect it has. Apparently there's a big demand for stuff like this in the Middle East of all places. They are close to the m2 so it was probably on the continent within hours of being stolen :-(

Over the weekend my wife's uncle had his gorgeous 4" scale Sentinel live steam lorry stolen from the Chatham area. He is an amazing engineer and scratch built it over several years. It has massive sentimental value as he built it with his father (the "H" on the livery) who passed away recently. It has been featured in the model engineering press and is well known in the model engineering community, it is about 8 feet long and weighs a couple of hundred kilos. If anyone hears anything about something like this being offered for sale or displayed anywhere could they drop me a pm so I can pass the info on to my wife's family. www.kentonline.co.uk/medway/news/steam-engine-stolen-from-mans-130122/

I saw a modern jazz in Birmingham a while back. Nothing unusual, except it was being mercilessly flogged. Weaving traffic, speeding, general tomfoolery. The Jazz driving community would have been appalled. On a seperate note, I used to see a little car. I'm sure it was an alfa. Probably mid 90's. Had no real features except a rubber bump strip that went all the way around the car. Anyone know what it might have been? I also saw a honda the other day, probably late 80's that looked like the johnny cabs in total recal. Not seen one of those before either. Any ideas? I've got a 2013 jazz as a commuter car. I don't get why they have such an oap reputation! The little 1.3 vtec lump loves to rev and they handle bloody well- they're only just over a ton. It's quicker down a B road than my BMW 530i as you can just chuck it onto corners at any speed and it grips. Shame they never did a type R would have been brilliant. Oh and you can get 6x2 sheets of plywood in one easy too

Hepu water pumps are highly rated on the American BMW sites. German, metal impeller and good bearings. Got one on my e39 530i with no issues. Might be worth looking at if a genuine one is too expensive.

Had a tour of the Eagle factory (the guys that restore and modify classic E type jaguars) including the Eagle Speedster. We went down there to 3d laser scan an E type to make into a model- the data ended up as a Scalextric car.

Looks like the towing capacity of a lupo is pretty low- 450kg unbraked / 800kg braked. I hope it's a very light car you want to tow!

Took my 2 1/2 year old son to a little car show on the isle of sheppey today, he loved it. First time I'be taken him to anything like that, think it will be the first of many.
Anyway, he fell in love with a little Bond Bug and spent ages looking under the front to see the wheel in the middle. He's now telling everyone about "orange car not have enough wheels, Finn bend over look underneath see another wheel under bonnet" hehe.
Does anyone know of or have any diecast models of a bond bug or a reliant robin/regal? Would love to get him something to remember the day by. Looks like corgi did one but they fetch big money on the bay of E
:-)

Land Rover evoques have a little square bit at the top of the arch trims that make it look like they haven't been fitted properly, it's like the square bit should fit in a slot inside the wheelarch as it doesn't relate to anything else, what's the point of it?
