Yes it is bragging time... Totally stole this idea from elsewhere, but it seemed like it would work here. What car related thing have you done that few (or no) others here have done? I know we've got some journos floating around the place who will have some pretty unique experiences, and we've got a few people that like to do some car based adventuring. What you got? I have a couple, although I'm sure most people will know these stories : Firstly I've been driven up Goodwood House hillclimb (Lord March's drive) at speed by Antony Reid in a BTCC Primera at the Festival Of Speed press day a few years ago. I think he was expecting someone from a local radio station*, but he ended up with me which I'm sure was a disappointment for him, however it made my day. I also got to sit in the almost non-existent passenger seat of Alan Thomas' KPGC10 GTR on the way back down the hill, which I think I'm the only person to ever do. I've just realised I've never put the photos from this online.. I shall rectify that, if I can find them. Secondly as covered the other day in the Mythical Cars thread, flying from the UK to Japan on a Friday and coming back on a Monday in order to go to a car show. Let's hear yours... *I'm pretty sure we already had a bigger audience than most local radio at that time though so he should have been thrilled.

I once sat in Ayrton Senna's McLaren F1 car in the early 1990s, which IIRC, had a Honda engine, so may well have been a version of the MP4 series.
It was a tight squeeze, and I'm only 5' 8", average build.

A family member is a fairly affluent chap. I have been taken to prom in his GT40 replica, ridden shotgun on a spirited drive in his F355 and more recently, sat in the drivers seat of his newest acquisition, a Ferrari 488.

Had a tour of the Eagle factory (the guys that restore and modify classic E type jaguars) including the Eagle Speedster. We went down there to 3d laser scan an E type to make into a model- the data ended up as a Scalextric car.

I got taken for a ride in a McLaren F1. Was early noughties and the owner used to visit the hotel for lunch. At 170mph it felt just like a normal BMW but gained pace and distance like a fighter jet.

I got to sit in a Mansell era Williams had Velcro inside the cockpit to 'stick' your arms to the side, might have been a show car but still... Did a factory tour at McLaren their old building unfortunately (Hakkinen/Coulthard era) and a tour of the Williams F1 museum. Been round the Land Rover course at Eastnor a few times (Disco 2, Disco 3 and Defender 2.2).

Did a lot toward building a car that raced the St Mary's Trophy at the Goodwood revival is probably the best one, I'm also one of very few to have fitted a BMW M52 as a retrofit into a Land Rover.
Not got much more interesting than that

To be brutally honest, it was bodged to fook by the son of D C Cobb in Ash Vale. You couldn't make this bit up... He narrowed the axle to allow for 15x15" Centre Lines and then realised he couldn't afford them so bought 10" wide and made some 5" alloy wheel spacers each side!

Same as - I know that he had the car for far longer than necessary and didn't do much to it but that was between him and the owner at the time. I didn't know him that well, more a friend of a friend.

I spent two days doing work experience/shadowing in the design office of the Tyrrell F1 factory when I was 17. I was given a bent steering arm from that year's Mexican GP as a momento.

Me and my eldest lad went round Land Rovers own test track, at Gaydon, with all the 'zones' with 2 Land Rover test drivers, after he wrote to them about their new Academy a few years ago. Also got to see what I now realise was the F type Jag long before it was launched at the same venue, the guys working on it were not impressed that we were sitting outside the workshop looking at it, and grumpily closed the door!

In 2003 went to bonneville for speed week and was told by a guy to steer and stop his camaro while he towed it to tech inspection . after the drivers meeting on Saturday lunchtime we drove the long course in our rental car and videod it. Went to el mirage dry lake california for land speed racing in 2014 found out that 6 days later Guy Martin was racing Pikes Peak over 1000 miles away so 7.30 am a week later I'm stood in front of him on the start grid and drove the course the day after. i have walked part way round Bristol motor speedway
