Good friend of mine has asked me to get rid of some of his collectables as he is down sizing. He has 4 push bikes from 1920-1950s I assume Ebay but the 20% fees and its very fickle! So any ideas?

Local gumtree, and just stick to your prices, though it is very frustrating when you’re selling something for 100 pounds and get enquiries galore askIng if you’ll take 20 pounds or swap for Xbox 😔
Other than that I can’t really think of anything other than a specialist forum or local rag

Depending on what the bikes are, car boot sale is probably where you'll have most luck, and get the best price for them. As for the encyclopedias, sadly there is no monetary value in these whatsoever, as due to the internet they're completely obsolete. My advice for them is, if you have an open fire, or log burner in your house use the encyclopedias to provide warmth in the winter.

Encyclopedias are Britanica from 1883 leather bound look fantastic but as you say some what obsolete Doesn't mean they're not of interest to someone. Try this though. Get on a bike and go door-to-door trying to sell the encyclopedias (remember those guys?) and if they don't want the books, flog them the bike instead?

Local library or perhaps some school might want it for teaching purposes? I've given tons of stuff to schools in the past, most stuff I can't sell within a reasonable time-scale I just donate to local schools. They have limited funding and are usually more then welcome to accept. Bonus points for doing something back for the community! for the bikes: A lot of stuff seems to be getting sold through facebook these days. Always worth a try since it's free!

Bottom line is, if you already know what they are worth then you can advertise them all over the place, it really doesn't matter. If you don't know what they are worth you will have to auction them and I'm afraid that means eBay.
You can use eBay to find values if you shill bid stuff with a second account. I'm sure some dogooder will pop up on here acting horrified but really it's a good way to find the value without having to pay any fees. (The sale can be cancelled afterwards)
There's some pretty dubious advice on here already but that's basically what it comes down to.

pull up to hipster London (Camden, Shoreditch , Hackney etc etc etc ) advertise them as vegan gluten free eco friendly pushbikes and I am pretty sure you wont be bringing any of those home tbh.

I never managed to find a good pushbike forum, facebook is ok but every tom dick and harry will message, gumtree is ok, ebay is a pain imo :-) encyclopedias though ebay might be better, as they draw a wider target audience. Specialist bookshops maybe too? What pushbikes are they anyway! :-)

Ones a twin top tube from the 20's I think, the others are the sit up and beg styles with enclosed chains, I have a feeling one might be an old Police bike? Should be photographing them in the next week or so, I also think he has a parts stash.
