Went and got some spacers today. 5x112, 66.6 centre bore, hubcentric with 10 extended bolts..... just a touch over £50 for the pair from Mtech. This is how they sit on the hub... The reason that they were so desperately needed was this....

I would have told him to jog on. I have major spinal issues, suffer with degenerative disc disease and arthritis in my spine. I'm a little slower than I used to be but try not to let it ruin my life (only mid 30's)..... I do get some odd looks when parking in disabled spaces and they see me stick the badges in the window all good fun!

Love those front indicators.....want!! Cost me around us$40 including getting them shipped here and the left (passenger side) one needed a bit of a file on the clip to get it to seat just right and not fall out. You can get them on eBay from a Latvian seller here.... www.ebay.co.uk/itm/142427949460 the fit isn't perfect so fettling is required on the latch clips

Nice ride sir! - Who did the tints? Looks like a good job and I'm after someone to do my own W210. (Below) Oh - Bookmarked. My tints were done by Quick Tint as found here... www.southyorkshiretint.yolasite.com/He has done a great job and came to the house for £180 all in. Obviously with older glass it's unlikely to be 100% perfect but this is a really nice job indeed and I am happy with it for what I was charged. I'm glad it's not just me that likes how it's going so far

Nice progress so far. Bookmarked for further updates Sir! I like your dad's W210 too. Thanks! My dads W210 is a 240 (2.4 petrol not 2.6) and he very recently had the paint sorted, it wears the age very well.

Then I decided to detail the exterior.... I am currently shopping for a pair of 25mm 5x112 spacers to bring out the rear wheels as they sit a little too far inboard for my taste. body needs a fair bit of work around the edges, including a pair of front wings needed. The long term goal is to dump either the 4.3 or 5.0 V8 in as the M111 2.0 is a little weedy and sounds trashy if pushed. So there you have it.... my work in progress W202!

That's a really clean looking example right there. I am totally hooked on Mercedes cars now, we currently have 2 in the household. My W202 and my dads W210. Now to try and finish last nights work..... Those 15's that were replaced were on 205/60/15 tyres and were catching on the front arch lips so I kind of 'procured' my dad refurbished W210 Algenib 16 inch wheels. These have been wrapped in 214/45/16 tyres, these also strangely gave a little more give in the suspension....... 2 pictures of our 2 cars together on the Ashover classic car show grounds.... This was the very end of the day so lots had already left by the time I took these. I also have a friend in the States, he was more than happy to send me these.... they are copies but I prefer how they look on the car. The plain white lenses I have always found boring and drab. Standard.... US market corner lamps..

Ok, after a very long break from the forum I have decided I would have a go at returning. In my absence I found out what a crash feels like as a passenger.... Not great is the answer if you were wondering. That is what happens when a late Ford escort van travelling at 60mph gets punted up the rear by a relatively new 320d travelling at 142mph! Anyway, enough of that and on to the shananigans!! As a present for myself I saw a really clean C200 classic with super low owners, good service history and only 2 owners that I just had to have in my life. Monies changed accounts and I purchased this fine chariot on 01/12/16..... And standard she remained for the last 6 months, right up to the point that my life went to hell and I decided to have a small mid life crisis in my mid 30's! First up .... off with the steels and trims! A set of 15 inch AMG Style II mono blocks. These I liked, but what happened next meant they were not to be.... Fast forward a good few weeks from that picture and this happened.... Yes that's full tints, 5% limo black in the rear and I'm saying nothing about the fronts. Mostly I was fed up with bright headlights at night and I like the look! Then things got fun and we said bye bye to the sky and hello to the floor..... This is why the 15's had to go! This is proving harder than at first thought because iPhone so I will continue later.

Not had very much time to update this thread, mainly this is due to being tangled up in a horrific car accident with a friend.
I still have the car and enjoy driving around in it still. It's not getting used that much though as it's awkward to get in and out of at the moment.
Bad luck happened over the bank holiday at the end of last month. While it was parked overnight outside my house, A wonderful person drove into the rear passenger door and left the scene! This pushed the whole rear door inwards and crunched all of the arch lip and above the sill. A huge stripe of red paint was left down the length of the car from the b pillar to the end of the rear arch!
I decided to repair myself rather than brave the insurance as I don't want to have the car written off. I have the rear door left to repair and paint and the arch is as good as finished already.
Recently the exhaust has decided it's had enough of life and has a huge hole in the rear section to the rear silencer ... I keep eyeing up the scimitar pipes that are lying around and thinking, single box, straight through and side exit!
I will update with pictures as soon as I get the chance to

I'm probably wrong but it reminds me of a suzuki Baleno, is it the same shell? Or just me! Just googled it very wrong! Totally different to a Baleno in just about every conceivable way. This thing is around the same overall size as a Ford Orion I think?? I could see why you would come to that conclusion though.

Its always nice to safe something unloved. I'm guessing you're vulgalour's brother, I think he posted about this Daihatsu already. As The Doctor said there used to be plenty of these in the Netherlands. I just quickly looked if there were any for sale on the biggest car selling website here in Finland, and I found two, both four wheel drive Can't say I've noticed them around here, but then I don't have any particular interest in these. I am indeed vulgalour's brother. At least there are still a few around in the Netherlands, Ebay Netherlands here I come haha

It's perfect for a second car, I mostly do use it as a little runaround.I was kind of hoping someone else here had one (even if overseas) as finding parts for it can be troublesome

Just thought I would pop up one of my recent vehicles, It is a fairly rare car in the grand scheme of things in the united kingdom. This particular car is a GXi trimmed manual Daihatsu Applause. As far as I can find out, this car is the last Gxi in service on U.k roads and possibly one of 9 road going examples left on these shores at present! The car was offered on another forum that I am a member of for FREE as it had fairly severe head gasket failure. Not one person seemed to want to save the old thing due to it's problems, so, on a whim I agreed to collect the car so that I could repair and put in to daily use! I borrowed an A-frame from a friend and set off from Stockton-on-tees in the north to somewhere south near Cambridgeshire (I think, or East Anglia, can't remember) a total distance of above 150 miles each way! Upon arrival, this is what I was presented with ...
Didn't look anywhere near as bad I was expecting it to be. Especially as it was free! After a bit of a chat and a coffee (it was totally freezing outside) we hooked up the A-frame and I set off with the car! Got some really funny looks as it was going dark by the time I got half way home with it and not daring to go over 50mph the going was slow indeed!
After I got the car back over here things kind of went south for a while financially for me. Because of this it sat in a yard (outdoor storage) from November until the beginning of February when I was finally in a position to start work with the car! I finally sourced a head gasket locally for the massive sum of £29 (we have a trade account with ecp) and set to work stripping the engine. The only information I could find on this engine (Daihatsu's own HDE 1.6) was the torque and bolt tightening sequence ... very handy, especially as it doesn't use stretch bolts for the cylinder head because I can't buy them anyway haha! With the cylinder head removed, this thing that was posing as a head gasket had to be scraped out of place ...
That was most definitely of no use as a head gasket anymore! After it was all assembled, to my surprise, it ran perfectly Insurance was secured at a massive sum of £138 for the year with an agreed value of £1500 ... happy days! I haven't really got enough time to add more photo's at present and since using it I have managed around 180 miles without so much as a hint of anything mechanical being a problem. Parts are very hard to come by for it and body panels might as well be made from poor quality wobbly children's play pony pooh! Plans are to leave it completely standard as I like it just the way it is. Give it a good clean up, repair the water ingress into the boot area, repair the rust on the rear arches and front wings and just enjoy it as it was meant to be used! If I lowered it the ride would be ruined and the super light controls of the car spoiled. Likewise if I put a stupid exhaust on it, the noise would be too intrusive! I'm guessing that there are very few, if any other Applause listed on Retro Rides, This one is still very much alive!
