I always enjoy seeing the updates in this thread but am very sorry to see this one! Wishing you a speedy recovery. The new 116 project is one I'll be watching with great interest once you get to it, we've got an '85 Giulietta here which has sentimental value but needs some fresh inspiration, so this will be just the thing. Thanks. It was not really the kind of update I like to place. 116 Giulietta's are getting quite rare as they were not the best cars ever build and not very loved due to their quirky looks. I actually like them and they drive very nice. At the moment I have 3 of them, 1 nice,1 ugly and 1 for parts. I'll either continue in this topic under a new title or create a new topic for the Giulietta as soon as I have updates. This is the ugly one. Ugly but really hard underneath.

looks a nice starting point, I find it does pay to take some time to plan a job like this and mull over the options, something to do while you recover. looking at the pics of the guilia the engine compartment doesen't look too damaged, you might get some usefull parts out of there. Planning phase started in my head as soon as i was offered the car😂 Gearbox from the giulia is broken off the engine but my mate will pull engine and box for small parts.

Is there a way to mark all forums read in the new version?
I always look on my android phone on Google browser.
In the past i used to go to the desktop version where there was a button to do that. But that got changed in the newer version. I hoped i would find it somewhere but I can't..😥

It's already at our place. Just talked to my mate. He will strip and crush the Giulia for me. He knows which parts are handy for me. That takes away a bit of stress for me as well. One door closes where another one opens..

Due to some changed circumstances I'm going to be doing a (hopefully) quick project starting next month or so. I'm converting a Giulietta 116 model to 2.4 20v jtd. The car in question is a repainted shell so in very nice condition. As this car has way better suspension and a bit more room then my Giulia I see no real problems for the conversion. This car will get it's own topic here when I start on it. For now some pictures of the car This will be the next project. I've another 2.4 20v jtd that i'll use in this car. This can be a relatively easy project but I first need to get mobile again. I hope that in December i can really start with the bigger modifications liking putting engine and gearbox in and making a transtunnel. Until then i'll probably try to do little things like fixing a wiring harness. That way i hope to finish it quickly so i have something nice to drive again. But first healing....😅

I'm pretty sure i would've noticed that 😅 It's rather annoying that i don't know what happened. It's a piece of highway that i've driven thousands of times, and also quite often at high speeds. Police did a small investigation but found no eyewitnesses of the crash and no evidence of technical malfunction of anything. My mates that collected the wreckage could also not point at a certain part to have caused the crash. It was a late Saturday night, a bit damp and most likely not much traffic so I'm really puzzled.. It sure would be nice to have the answer as to what caused this... At least my recovery seams to be heading in the right direction. Stood outside the bed and sat in the special chair for a good hour today. According to the nurse that was very good considering the trauma and that i've been lying flat for a week. Starting to look better.. (pardon the finger🫣)

Get well soon man, get checked out for epilepsy while you are in, if you have no memory there may have been an issue Thanks, I've actually asked my nurse about that. Memory loss due to heavy trauma is apparently not uncommon. But I'll ask if there is some kind of possibility to test for epilepsy.

It was an older wooden steering wheel, quite an impact and 112kg of driver holding it, that was enough to crack it i guess.
There are definitely some more items to be salvaged like the LSD, engine to gearbox adapter(hopefully also gearbox itself), the ecu and an electric module i used to get the speedometer to work. Those are parts that i also need for my Giulietta.
@all, many thanks for the best wishes. All will most likely work out well, it will just take time.

Unfortunately I had an accident with the Giulia last Saturday. Due to unknown circumstances I've driven off the highway and ended up taking down a tree. I was slung out of the car and taken to the hospital.i have no memory of several hours so I don't really know the cause. Fortunately no-one else was hit or hurt. The car is a total write off, will only get some parts of it before it gets scrapped. My right leg has gotten some pins to set broken bones. I have some cracked discs in my spine that need aligning with a brace and off course I'm all black and blue all around. But recovery of 100% should be possible. And that's the main goal. Giulia will be followed by Giulietta.

Willwood has 2 piece brake discs. You then have an outer rotor part and a separate middle piece.
If you can get the correct size loose rotors you can get a middle piece machined to fit them.
When they wear out you can simply change the rotors for new ones, the middle part can be reused.

Normally i read the forum on my android phone in the mobile version. For posting pictures i switch to the desktop version.
To mark all the forums read i also used to switch to the desktop forum where there was an option to mark all forums read. In the new layout i can't find that option anymore🤔

Very sad to read this news.
I wish his daughter and other family and friends all the strength they'll need to overcome this loss.
And i really hope to see a finished car appear on this topic. A true tribute that would be.

Tonight I made the last little patch to close the gap. Next I'll have to start scraping underseal and fix a few minor patches. After that I can put the entire middle piece of the floorpan in primer. Then I can start looking at putting the body on top. The finished patch.

“2.5tdi. worked out perfect. Separate cooling system with heatexchanger, chargecooler and bigger vnt turbo makes it a nice package. Probably makes about 150-170 bhp with alot of torque.” That’s interesting…. I have the AEL 2.5TDI in my A6 and it needs. Which turbo did you use and how much hassle to make it work? Nice work on the gearbox adapter plate. Good to see the insurance came good in the end also! We used a bmw e39 530d turbo we had lying around. Engine is a Volvo version with a modified loom from a VW golf and a T4 ecu, some version with a N75 valve to control the vnt. Another friend modified some of the mapping on it.

Yesterday i had a look at an Alfa 164 from a friend. Has been standing for 15 years but looks fairly good (little rust/rot). Would make a nice project, rwd conversion and Audi v8 are hunting my mind😂
