Weeks of painful training ahead of me.. step by step, literally, learning to walk again. But beats being dead or paralyzed, so i'm not complaining, just making the best of it. It's just hard to accept that my body can't keep up with my motivation. I'm out of breath and sweating after only a few exercises, that's annoying as hell. And it's difficult to keep that frustration to myself as I don't want my family to endure it. Last picture of my Giulia as it's going to the scrapper.. my mate took of everything useful for me.

I'm very happy to report that i'm out of the hospital and back home to start my recovery. The possibility to eat something nice again made me happy and my cat was very happy as well...

Oliver was in the Netherlands I think 2 years ago at the Alfa Romeo club Meeting at Zandvoort.
Unfortunately he was black flagged for being too loud. But it was a glorious howl..😍

I have no Instagram so I can't see it all but i saw that it's posted by OKTech. Oliver Koerfgen has built some of the nicest Alfa's. Including his own Group A Alfa 75 with a 3.9 24v v6 with around 500bhp NA. Imagine how fast that is in a car that weighs about 900kg.
His builds are a work of art. This Alfetta sedan looks perfect from the outside and most likely it's technically perfect..

Yesterday i talked to a police officer who was at the scene. He called to check how I was doing.
He told me there was a car in front of me and a van with a group of friends behind at the moment of the crash. The car in front only saw me in the mirror and he told I was coming up to him until he saw me crash behind him. He stopped to help.
The guys in the van were further behind. They saw me hit the middle barrier and plummet off to the right, through the grass cutting down a tree and stopping. They stopped as well.
These people gave first aid and notified the emergency services.
Due to their stories the police thinks I either fell asleep or passed out causing the crash. The medics immediately did some checks to verify this but couldn't find anything wrong.
The police officer told me the guys were very worried about my condition (as was he) and asked if he could let them know if I was alright. I also got the details from one of the men from him to contact them if I wanted to. I've send him a message and he asked if he could visit me in hospital. That's an hour and a half one-way trip for him.. exactly what I would do.
I'm very thankful to these people for their help and actions. It happens they're carnuts as well and were coming back from an autocross event they visited when I passed them. I'm planning on inviting them to our shed for a BBQ when I'm a bit mobile again. I think that will be a nice way to thank them.

I have to admit, when they first came out I had to get used to their styling. But I really like them now. Very cool that your mate is stepping up to help you out. The Giulietta grew on me as well. I wasn't born when they came out😅 My mate has been my best mate for 20+ years. It's a no brainer to help eachother. This is heavy on him as well. He actually stood in the traffic jam from my accident and a sick gut feeling told him to call me as I had just left something like 20 mins before him. He got a paramedic on the phone instead. So he drove past the traffic jam and spoke to the paramedics and police. After that he went to my house to get my girlfriend and go to the hospital. I like to believe that if you help people, good will come your way. Like a positive karma. Wie goed doet, goed ontmoet.

Yeah, I'll have to resort to lighter jobs like cleaning parts first.
For the bigger things I'll have to ask my mate to help, bigger problem for me then for him.
The 116 Giulietta is a late seventies car with modern styling for that time. The boot is awkward to access and has very limited space with a fuel tank and sparetire in it. Cabin space is decent enough. Dashboard is of an interesting design as well, you either like it or hate it.
The silver car is a mismatch between different series. They took the parts that they think looked best. I like it, only downside is the glass window in the roof.
Car will stay pretty much in this form, lowering and bigger wheels will be the biggest difference.

If I don't use mine you can have them for the cost of shipping 👍
I just need some months...

Yeah, i found that option as well. Not very handy with the large amount of topics that are marked 'new'..😅
Edit; I thought I would need to select the topics but that's not the case. That simplifies things a bit👍

Nice... Does that have the DeDion rear with 4 bolt wheels? If so, and if you are not going to use it, I could use some parts off it. ( if you'd be willing to sell, and willing to ship...) Which parts would you need? Shipping the triangle would be expensive I think. I'm yet to decide on 4/5 lug.

I always enjoy seeing the updates in this thread but am very sorry to see this one! Wishing you a speedy recovery. The new 116 project is one I'll be watching with great interest once you get to it, we've got an '85 Giulietta here which has sentimental value but needs some fresh inspiration, so this will be just the thing. Thanks. It was not really the kind of update I like to place. 116 Giulietta's are getting quite rare as they were not the best cars ever build and not very loved due to their quirky looks. I actually like them and they drive very nice. At the moment I have 3 of them, 1 nice,1 ugly and 1 for parts. I'll either continue in this topic under a new title or create a new topic for the Giulietta as soon as I have updates. This is the ugly one. Ugly but really hard underneath.

looks a nice starting point, I find it does pay to take some time to plan a job like this and mull over the options, something to do while you recover. looking at the pics of the guilia the engine compartment doesen't look too damaged, you might get some usefull parts out of there. Planning phase started in my head as soon as i was offered the car😂 Gearbox from the giulia is broken off the engine but my mate will pull engine and box for small parts.

Is there a way to mark all forums read in the new version?
I always look on my android phone on Google browser.
In the past i used to go to the desktop version where there was a button to do that. But that got changed in the newer version. I hoped i would find it somewhere but I can't..😥

It's already at our place. Just talked to my mate. He will strip and crush the Giulia for me. He knows which parts are handy for me. That takes away a bit of stress for me as well. One door closes where another one opens..

Due to some changed circumstances I'm going to be doing a (hopefully) quick project starting next month or so. I'm converting a Giulietta 116 model to 2.4 20v jtd. The car in question is a repainted shell so in very nice condition. As this car has way better suspension and a bit more room then my Giulia I see no real problems for the conversion. This car will get it's own topic here when I start on it. For now some pictures of the car This will be the next project. I've another 2.4 20v jtd that i'll use in this car. This can be a relatively easy project but I first need to get mobile again. I hope that in December i can really start with the bigger modifications liking putting engine and gearbox in and making a transtunnel. Until then i'll probably try to do little things like fixing a wiring harness. That way i hope to finish it quickly so i have something nice to drive again. But first healing....😅

I'm pretty sure i would've noticed that 😅 It's rather annoying that i don't know what happened. It's a piece of highway that i've driven thousands of times, and also quite often at high speeds. Police did a small investigation but found no eyewitnesses of the crash and no evidence of technical malfunction of anything. My mates that collected the wreckage could also not point at a certain part to have caused the crash. It was a late Saturday night, a bit damp and most likely not much traffic so I'm really puzzled.. It sure would be nice to have the answer as to what caused this... At least my recovery seams to be heading in the right direction. Stood outside the bed and sat in the special chair for a good hour today. According to the nurse that was very good considering the trauma and that i've been lying flat for a week. Starting to look better.. (pardon the finger🫣)

Get well soon man, get checked out for epilepsy while you are in, if you have no memory there may have been an issue Thanks, I've actually asked my nurse about that. Memory loss due to heavy trauma is apparently not uncommon. But I'll ask if there is some kind of possibility to test for epilepsy.

It was an older wooden steering wheel, quite an impact and 112kg of driver holding it, that was enough to crack it i guess.
There are definitely some more items to be salvaged like the LSD, engine to gearbox adapter(hopefully also gearbox itself), the ecu and an electric module i used to get the speedometer to work. Those are parts that i also need for my Giulietta.
@all, many thanks for the best wishes. All will most likely work out well, it will just take time.

Unfortunately I had an accident with the Giulia last Saturday. Due to unknown circumstances I've driven off the highway and ended up taking down a tree. I was slung out of the car and taken to the hospital.i have no memory of several hours so I don't really know the cause. Fortunately no-one else was hit or hurt. The car is a total write off, will only get some parts of it before it gets scrapped. My right leg has gotten some pins to set broken bones. I have some cracked discs in my spine that need aligning with a brace and off course I'm all black and blue all around. But recovery of 100% should be possible. And that's the main goal. Giulia will be followed by Giulietta.

Willwood has 2 piece brake discs. You then have an outer rotor part and a separate middle piece.
If you can get the correct size loose rotors you can get a middle piece machined to fit them.
When they wear out you can simply change the rotors for new ones, the middle part can be reused.
